It's doesn't matter which, even if it's a very small amount of money placed in a charity can, it will be accepted by the heavens. I wonder if a person panhandling for money to get drugs and not food or water should I give still give them charity? The reason is that we all know that drugs are very haram and why helping them to get their fix by giving them money?

I don't think we can say on behalf of God that when we give charity one's wealth will not decrease. I have seen people who gave zakat and charity sincerely & consistently end up being tested with hardship & poverty. We give charity to gain God's blessings and forgiveness, that's all.

This is a promise from Allah brother. It’s not up to what you think. Maybe these people gave charity with the wrong intention so Allah rejected it.

There is no way Allah can tell a lie. Allahs word is true, correct and sincere and if Allah says something we cannot by any chance or means try and find examples to dispute it nor contradict it. Dont try and even give examples to prove Allah wrong as it might not go well for you. Many have tried and have failed miserable and worse ended up in severe punishment. So, just a gentle reminder, don't test or try ALLAH with deragatory remarks about his words, it doesn't always end well. If Allah says giving SADAQA does not decrease one's wealth we believe that fully without having to start bringing examples of x, y or z who we know. Allah is in charge of their lives not you nor me and as thd brother said, could be Allah rejected their SADAQA and verily ALLAH is the knower and giver of everything in this life and the next.
