i think you're missing the point of this lecture: he's saying you can ask for jannah (what the beloved Allah created) or you can ask to BE WITH the beloved (Allah) --- and wanting to be with inside the creation and be with the Creator is not the same. So yes we should seek jannah, but in our hearts we should want to be with Allah, the Only One Worthy of Praise and our UNCONDITIONAL Pure Love and Admiration.

Here are some ways to earn deeds after death: 1) Give a copy of the Qur'an to someone. Each time one reads from it you gain. 2) Donate a wheelchair to a hospital. Each time a sick person uses it you gain. 3) Participate in building a masjid. 4) Place a watercooler in a public space. 5) Plant a tree. You gain whenever a person or an animal sits in it's shade or eats from it. 6) And the easiest of all, share this message with people.

Some people look to Allah for Jannah, others look for high levels of Jannah, others seek to have the pleasures of this world and what not. All I care about is forgiveness. I've had money, I've had the fashion, I've driven the car that I've wanted and needed to drive, and I realized that none of this brought any benefit to my comfort. It was just momentary.
