Some people cannot be made to be happy. They must find happiness for themselves. If my wife isn't happy, do I buy her a house, more jewelry, a car, cook, clean, and buy her more clothing?! Then, if she is not happy, am I NOT GOOD?! Bal, this is not being "good." The best to their family, what does that actually mean.
