It would be fun to see what's bumping around after dark. Thanks for sharing Mark.

Definitely on the blurry side (and seemed to have some focusing issues with moving targets) so equivalent to first gen night vision (or worse), but no real surprise at that price (Gen 3/4 you are looking at several thousand CAD for a monocular). Also to be clear this is night vision not IR/Thermal (It does have an IR flashlight to improve night time performance). It also seemed like the day/night time recording was squished down horizontally. Are they running it through a green lens when you look through it too?

I would say you know more about this tech than I do. It does not appear to be a green lens. Thanks for commenting

I also noticed the squished down aspect. This would be a deal breaker for me.

IR is a different wavelength, so the focus point will change from daylight mode. It's a little disappointing that it didn't change the focus point. Perhaps it's because it's intended to be attached to a rifle scope, and you're expected to refocus it that way? Oh well. I'll have to go look up the price

@@georgejones8784 I was just about to comment the same. I find it strange that focus corrections are never done. I own one of these and it is pin sharp in IR mode when focused correctly.

G'day Mark, that's something different mate. Personally I'm a stills guy, though "normal" cameras inherently do vid as well these days; so, like you, the dedicated night functionality is the only reason to have it. I'm surprised there's no visual setting information through the lens, (or maybe you had it switched off ?) In any case, that would help with muscle memory/button indexing, if that makes sense. Its good that it can run off a power bank. However, with the cheap price of memory cards, (and vid does chew it up pretty quick), they shoulda just whacked in a 256 job to start with. As far as hunting; (I havent either for a long time), ..... why do you need to capture the shot(s) on film ? ...... is that just in case ............ bigfoot is in the background ; ) Cheers Duke. P.S. btw; if you happen to come across any compact binos, I'd certainly be interested in those.

I did have an offer to review a small set of hunting binoculars but the company never sent them. That would be something useful. Thanks for commenting Duke

@@MarkYoungBushcraft Mate, yeah useful alright..... and very seldom talked about. I'm more of a twitcher/wildlife observer, though forgoing that, nav and general awareness, makes 'em just about mandatory IMO. FYI, as a datum point, I've had Bushnell H2Os, @ 12 X 25, for several years now, (so named for being waterPROOF ... and no reason to think otherwise ..... yet). I paid 100 knicker AUD from memory, but likely there's similar, or maybe better, alternatives by now. On the downside, the pouch is inadequate, ...... in that it is too tight to cater for the strap.

But you didn’t show it as a rifle scope! 😀😀 So it’s definitely not great quality, from what I could see, but the better ones cost a heck of a lot more, so…. I took a peek on Amazon about it. There was a hilarious video showing how useful it is. They showed someone using it to find something in a dark cupboard. Like hellooo, a $5 flashlight would do the same thing. 😀
