How would 22 inch soy bean rows go? Had an old fertiliser spreader, it had a steel bobbin reel as an ag roller drive chain tensioner. The bobbin could slide from side to side a bit and A 6 inch external extension wire spring that pulled out to about 9 inches. Off the shelf - chain tensioner from the hay baler dismantler yard, maybe a Rosta chain tensioner/ Monstercraftsman motorcycle chain tensioner. The Tour - take a look a 'Freewheelingkiwi' she takes small groups to Nepal, hiking at high altitude up to 18K feet, micromanages with checklists and A to Z guide etc.

I was surprised to find they still make cutter bar assemblies with riveted sections. I put a new knife in my Hesston mower conditioner a couple of years ago and it sure is a pain to replace a section. I grind off the rivet head and use the pointed tip of my air hammer to drive the rivet out. This winter I'll replace all the sections with new ones and bolts. One practice that has greatly reduced broken knife sections is rolling the seedlings with a Mandako field roller. A discbine is looking more appealing these days though.

You could also spread rye with the fertilizer spreader, because unlike wheat it really germinates on the soil surface, no seed depth needed. I don't know how its availlable where you are farming tho. Greetings from Germany.

Chains should have dry lubricant. like white lithium. Grease holds dust that is abrasive and wears the chain right out.

How's your truck doing Wes? Ford just this year decided to make the 7.3 Godzilla engine a $6,800 upgrade for base trim levels now. You have to get some STX appearance crap to get that engine. Ford trying to screw over buyers just to get more money.
