Muslim recorded that Jabir said that during the Farewell Hajj, the Prophet said; «وَاتَّقُوا اللهَ فِي النِّسَاءِ، فَإِنَّهُنَّ عِنْدَكُمْ عَوَانٍ، وَلَكُمْ عَلَيْهِنَّ أَنْ لَا يُوطِئْنَ فُرُشَكُمْ أَحَدًا تَكْرَهُونَهُ،فَإِنْ فَعَلْنَ ذَلِكَ فَاضْرِبُوهُنَّ ضَرْبًا غَيْرَ مُبَرِحٍ، وَلَهُنَّ عَلَيْكُمْ رِزْقُهُنَّ وَكِسْوَتُهُنَّ بِالْمَعْرُوف» (Fear Allah regarding women, for they are your assistants. You have the right on them that they do not allow any person whom you dislike to step on your mat. However, if they do that, you are allowed to discipline them lightly. They have a right on you that you provide them with their provision and clothes, in a reasonable manner.) Ibn `Abbas and several others said that the Ayah refers to a beating that is not violent. Al-Hasan Al-Basri said that it means, a beating that is not severe. this is the tafsir of quran 4-34. Beating here is always misinterpreted and misconstrued to mean assault. it DOESNT. we look at the Quran AND the hadith in combination. the "Beating" that is referred here cant cause pain, disfigurement, marks, and cant be on the face. you CANT call that beating by definition. its more like tapping. dont take things out of context which you have no knowledge of

Allah only forbids you from befriending those who have fought you for ˹your˺ faith, driven you out of your homes, or supported ˹others˺ in doing so. And whoever takes them as friends, then it is they who are the ˹true˺ wrongdoers.” - Surah al-Mumtahanah 60:8-9 We believers are brother in faith, that I do not disagree with. I was using the word brother as a speech of respect as we must do so with the people we talk with, no matter who they are. I do not mean to offend you and if i did so, forgive me. As a blk Muslim and former Christian for years I have a big problem with exodus 21:20-21 there is no excuse for that and it does not give a reason for the beating besides the slave is the slave owner property which means if the slave owner gets up on the wrong side of the bed he can just get up and beat the slave for no reason just because the slave is your property which is not just and GOD the one true creator is just and the Bible verse exodus 21:20-21 is not just so that can’t be GODS word also slave owners did that to my ancestors it’s a reason they use bible in slavery time but Islam says if you beat slave you have to let them go and you will be punished this is just

I just want to add to your comment. In islam there is servitude like from a conventional servant. En£laving a free human is strictly prohibited. Infact there is a sahih hadith which says Sahih al-Bukhari 2270 Narrated Abu Huraira: The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "Allah said, 'I will be an enemy to three types of people on the Day of Resurrection: -1. One who makes a covenant in My Name, but proves treacherous; -2. One who sells a free person and eats his price; and -3. One who employs a laborer and takes full work from him but does not pay him for his labour.' " So in islam indulging in sl@very in american context is literally going up against Allah on day of judgement. Good luck to those who did that 😬
