While we’ve given our planet’s oceans separate names, in reality there’s no border between them, and currents continually flow between them and mix their waters.
The border between the Pacific and Atlantic oceans is like a line between 2 worlds. It looks as if the two oceans meet at an invisible wall which does not let them flow into each other and mix their waters.
Why on Earth does it happen? We know for sure there is no invisible wall inside, and water is water. So what could interfere with its mixing?

There is no barrier. Water mixes with water. Get a cup of salt water and a cup of fresh water and pour them both in a bigger cup and both will mix if you take a look under a microscope. The two seas referred in the context of that verses:- one is sweet and the other is salty. The barrier could mean a land and/or what caused the two not to transgress, such as an estuary. Look at the tafseer. Quran lies? Nope. Quran is correct. It hints the reader to the science of why for example river and seawater don't overreach the common point, and why fresh and saltwater creatures can only survive in their own habitat.

Since when does the Gulf of Alaska have ANYTHING to do with the Atlantic Ocean? This is a plume of sediment-rich fresh waters in the Gulf of Alaska, before they mix into the marine environment. You can see the same phenomenon off the mouths of many larger rivers, including the Mississippi, Amazon, and Brahmaputra.

The original comment was about the waters of the Atlantic and Pacific not mixing, and Alaska is more than 1300 miles from the nearest Atlantic waters (in Hudson's Bay) and over 2700 miles from the Gulf of Maine. It was as dumb a comment as stating that the sun must be closer than Los Angeles is to New York, because you can see the sun from New York, but you can't see Los Angeles.

The verse is talking about sea water and river water, not oceans. the sea water don’t flow into the rivers dominating it causing the fresh water to become salted, and though most rivers flow into the sea, the ocean water stays salty regardless of how much river water it takes in.

But the Oceans actually do mix a little where they border on each other. The passage you refer to actually refers to the sweet water underground and the salty sea water. This has been a common view on things even in ancient Sumer which distinguished between the Abzu (>abyss, underground) and Tiamat, the chaotic, destructive sea. The barrier is the land.

For people wondering the actual reason it’s because the water of both oceans have different densities, salinities and temperature. This occurs at the gulf of Alaska where the Pacific Ocean meets the water from the melting polar ice caps. The water from the pacific is filled with iron and other sediment while the water from the ice caps are much colder and clearer.

A similar phenomenon is also found in The Gambia River. Here, the sea water flows straight from the Atlantic Ocean through the binding river up to a point in Kaur/ kuntaur and will not mix with the fresh water finding its source from Futa-Jalong in Guinea.
