Pelion Sanatorium Est. 1909-Urbex Greece (English Subtitles)

Everything started at 1909, when George Karamanis, from the nearby village Drakeia, decided to build at this area a Sanatorium.He thought that the climate could be beneficial for people that were sick of tuberculosis.
The Sanatorium was offering health services and good quality of life and it was way ahead of it's era! Nearby city Volos didn't have electricity at that time, but the Sanatorium was equiped with an electricity generator, not only for the operations of the facility, but also every room of the patients had electricity, central heating and running water. There was also a phone center, pharmacy, microbiological, x-ray and biochemistry lab, sterilizer and crematory, instruments for helping breathing wich were from the first that came to our country! The doctor by hiself brought them from Switzerland.
The level of the provided services was high, including dinner five times per day, exercise (Swedish gymnastics), sunbathing, airtreatment, library, study room, entertaining at the reception area.
Many famous people visited the Sanatorium!
George Karamanis was a scientist with a vision! At that time it was a great decision for someone to spend time with tuberculosis because it was a disease that is concidered that it was greater than AIDS wich troubles us in our times!
The Sanatorium oPerated until 1963. After that the ownership went to the hands of the creditors. Today the new owner propably awaits someone to invest....

At WW2 they were hiding in several places gold coins! After the war and because many people died, these treasures were forgotten! So now many people search for these treasures! Thanx Brian i really appreciate it man!

Great Explore, crazy that people are treasure hunting in,an 8nsane asylum. The church area was pretty cool with all the paintings and the music was a perfect fit. Enjoyed this cool place with great forest views.

Ήταν σε πολύ άσχημη κατάσταση το κτίριο! Αυτό που κέρδιζε το ενδιαφέρον ήταν η ατμόσφαιρα που σου δημιουργούσε ένα περίεργο συναίσθημα... Όμορφη τοποθεσία και καθαρό οξυγόνο... 🙏👊🗝️
