That's a long time on a train, but it helps that they fed you. I'm with Tia: trains are ALWAYS FREEZING! It's better than being hot and you can't do anything about it, but still, sometimes even a heavy sweater isn't enough, especially if you're trying to sleep. I just read the other day that back between WW1 and WW2 we had plan to build network of railway across the country. But somehow after WW2 (not sure when) the government back then decided that roads are much cheaper to build than railway network so they cancelled many projects. For example, Ratchadapisek Road was planned to be railway but later converted to part of first ring road of Bangkok. Years passed and with the expansion of urban area and cities, they would need to spend billions if they which to carry the same plan and probably take years to finish.
@OnePackWanderers2 жыл бұрын
A similar thing happened in America before WW2. Cars were deemed 'better' than rail so we never ended up having the excellent train infrastructure that some other places - like Europe and Japan - got.

Man, let me grab my Tong Garden salted peanuts. Yeah, luckily I' ve got one. In the past there used to be a kitchen on the train called " Too Sa Biang". You can order Thai fried rice, Khow Pad Kaprow, Lad Na, Pad Si Eew, etc. Kind of normal street food dishes on the train. So the cook would make each dish one by one. The train fried rice was so popular that many Thai restaurant have " Khao Pad Rod Fai" on their menu. Rod Fai = Train. Enjoy your stay in Chiengmai. Good night.

You could order a large beer or two to have with your ( fried rice and cashew nuts ).
