They have already given an explanation for why only 4 years of software updates. And I think only a small percentage of users who buy this phone will keep it for more than 5 years (5 years of security patches). They didn't want to promise anything that they won't be able to deliver. Google and Samsung have their own hardware optimized for their software (Samsung has even the snapdragon for their flagship series specially tuned for them). Curved edge is a preference take care and it won't break and it looks beautiful. 120x is just a marketing gimmick, yes and this you are comparing with the ultra right. I don't even use more than 5x since after that almost all the phones give lower quality images than 1x and 2x. But this is for certain situations where you want to zoom that much. And IPXX rating, I agree they could have provided an IP68 and they even included the aqua touch. That is so underrated but ironic as well.

If water protection is your main concern you could buy something else compromising on a lot of things that are actually very relevant and available on the OP 12 that you'd actually encounter every day. Little carefulness with oneplus 12 and you will use your phone for a long time and Atleast you get aqua touch.

Exactly, I actually can't remember the last time I stuck with the same phone for 3+ years. Heck, I bought the Oneplus Nord CE 3 Lite when it launched last year and I just upgraded to the Oneplus 12 when that same Nord CE 3 Lite isn't even a year old lol

Actually very true. 3-4 years is enough for a phone, especially these days when every year brings in a newer and more powerful chipset. I’ve never used any phone beyond 4 years, so software support of 7 years blah blah is pointless as by that time there will be way faster and better phones and that 7 year old phone will struggle to perform with the newer updates.

My opinion: 1) display: everyone buys a back case, so it protects from screen vulnerability. I have purchased Ringke fusion backcase, it is awesome 2) no ip68: you are right, but it only affects the phone when it is 6 feet under water. You can use it in rain. I tested it. 3)zoom: dude you are comparing with Samsung, it is accepted at this price point, only iqoo 12 somewhat can compare with OnePlus. 4)software updates: it is 4 os and 5 security updates. Every smartphone user won't use their phone more than 5 years.

​@mydroid2556 don't have any videos, but ip 65 means that it is resistant against low-pressure water jets from all directions. Water and dust resistance wears off so keep that in mind.

Okay, the things you talked about aren't actually cons. I've been using it for almost a month now and here are a few issues I discovered: 1. RAM management is sometimes quacky. 2. BGMI in 90fps seems jittery. 3. Images captured from main lens sometimes have a redish hue i.e. camera performance isn't consistent. 4. Prolonged gaming, say about 3-3.5 hours do cause the phone to thermal throttle e.g. I play CODM @120 fps and have noticed FPS dropping to 40 or 50 after a prolonged session. Oneplus 12 user, please do comment if you also have observed any of the above issues.

These are minor issues and can be resolved with software updates, S24 might be promising 7 major OS updates but the chipset itself isn't reliable to last that long. If you can live with Color/Oxygen OS and don't necessarily need the AI features samsung is offering, OP12 is a great phone overall.

It is somewhat water resistant, it is not a certified IP68 because certification leads to an increase in price hype so they test the device in their own labs. Iphone receives IP68 certification that's why it's costly and they also mention that "Water damage is not covered under warranty".

@@ClaudeSeer you can get a normal curved glass but overtime it will have bubbles air gaps which can’t be removed I used to have one on my 9 Pro and it wasted just after 2 weeks. Even if you’re using UV just pay attention that the glue doesn’t go around frame. Cause it can damage the volume/power keys.
