I have the 8 Pro and preorderd the OnePlus 12. I normally keep two phones. Typically and iPhone or a Samsung and the second device is a Pixel. Ill use the others for daily use and switch to a Pixel for events or trips that I am taking a lot of pictures. The Pixel cameras are just consistently good. Recently I got a OnePlus Open as my daily and was blown away with how good the photos were. I noticed I stopped taking the Pixel with me places for photos because I wasnt making a massive compromise with camera performance anymore. It just turns out I am not a foldable guy since it was my first one and I wasnt using the foldable features enough. I sold it to get the 12 since they share an almost identical camera setup (the 12 has a slightly larger main sensor). Bear in mind the Open took 4th place behind MKBHDs Blind Camera Test, trailing behind a trio of Pixels. So its not just my anecdotal opinion. They made a huge leap in camera performance between the OnePlus 11 and the Open. I am sure after a few updates the cameras on the 12 will be just as good as the Open was and I cant wait until mine arrives on the 1st. As far as function goes the 12 will undoubtedly have superior battery life and cellular connectivity (if you venture outside metropolitan areas) if my experience with the Pixel 8 Pro and the Open are anything to compare it with. I also expect the 12 to be much faster in every meaningful way. Performance, charging, processing videos, WiFi/LTE/5G speeds, etc. So at that point the main difference will be Googles "AI" features and the UI. Some of Pixels smart features are useful but many arent fully fleshed out yet. OnePlus made it a point to discuss AI capabilities on the SD 8 gen 3 chip but didnt mention a single AI feature coming to either 12 series phone. You will also get longer updates on the Pixel, but at the rate it goes through battery I would suspect youll need a replacement every 3 years to make it through a shift at work. Its not a bad phone but Tensor is quiet inefficient and really holds the phone back from being a serious flagship contender. I may very well end up changing up my habits and selling the Pixel and just sticking to the 12 once they get the camera bugs worked out.

Fantastic and detailed response. I'm virtually in the same position. I have an OnePlus Open and a Pixel 8 Pro. I find myself reaching more for the OnePlus Open as the camera on it are consistently great. The only downside is the slightly slower shutter speed compared to the Pixel 8 Pro. Prior to the Open I had a OnePlus 11 and really enjoyed that device. Am thinking about getting a OnePlus 12 too but I'm really enjoying the foldable experience more than I thought I would. Going to wait for a little while I might end up selling the Pixel 8 Pro and OnePlus Open and using just a OnePlus 12. I hope you enjoy using the 12 when it's finally delivered.

Love this! I have the pixel 8 pro and the battery life is low-key weak and performance as far as the phone getting hot as hell doing just basic stuff is fairly annoying to me. I just feel like maybe besides the cameras on pixel, the OP12 is better in every way. These AI features are admittedly pretty dope but with all the specs of the OnePlus I just can't turn it down. Pre ordering tomorrow 💯

I never understood the whole water thing. Who is taking their phones swimming? With that said, I have a OnePlus open with no water rating that I dropped in my dog's water bowl and it was totally submerged and I pulled it out and shook it off and have had no problems. The OnePlus 12 has a seal around the SIM card tray and everything, I'm pretty sure that the phone is probably ip68 they just didn't want to pay for the rating.

I have a pixel 8 (got a stupid trade in deal) and pre ordered a OnePlus 12 and am giving this to my daughter. The pixel 8 just straight up is no faster than my old pixel 6 pro and honestly day to day the only difference I notice is the battery is a touch better and the speakers sound better. OS and general performance is exactly the same (I used them side by side to edit photos and play Roblox, both were slow and laggy). I'm glad I got this in the pink color because I knew it'd be just as bad as the 6 pro. Overheats randomly for no reason, poor cell reception and 5g causes crazy battery drain. Even the cameras vs 6 pro were on par or worse. The only thing that was slightly better on the 8 was the ultra wide in low light. And that could have been just a processing difference. SO EXCITED to finally go back to OnePlus!

@pocketlintcom8 ай бұрын
Sometimes it can, depending on the style of the case. I found, as with any new device, it's just a bit of re-learning and adjusting how you do things. So you might just find yourself instinctively changing your grip on the phone to avoid it after a while.
