Great guide, except would have liked a bit more details around separating the screen from the adhesive. The adhesive on the side is only a very thin strip (only about 2mm from the edge) of rubbery adhesive, but it's deeper (up to 8mm) on the top and bottom. I was replacing a scratched screen that was otherwise still fine, but damaged it while removing the glue by going deeper than I needed to. I'd also recommend the metal card. I only had a Stanley knife blade and managed to gauge a bit little bit out of the lip of the phone frame. Hard to notice, but would have preferred to not have made that error. Finally, I didn't have the adhesive for the new screen, but found a thin coating of Selleys "kwik grip" contact adhesive on both surfaces to work well. Was fairly easy to clean off the excess. I think most contact adhesives are soft/rubbery, which is what you want if you ever want to be able to remove the screen again.

Thankyou!!! Amazing step by step guide!!! the only difference from the video was that the metal protector shown at 1:10 were glued to the 2 connectors. Did not make any difference to the fix process other than it was dangling on to the chassis all the time. Hope this helps anyone with the same type of connector. Thankyou again!!

This guide really helped me replace my screen. The hardest part of this was definitely the removal of the broken screen and the adhesive. Just to add, after heating the adhesive make sure to cut/pry the adhesive TOWARDS the screen and not against the trim/lip. I gouged the crap out of my trim. Make sure to cut and lift the broken screen away from the housing.

Is it really required to remove the motherboard and battery before removing and replacing the screen? A technician repaired my 5T 2 years ago without having to remove those parts. He was able to test the screen and everything without the need to remove those parts.

but this is not the glass itself! it's the touchscreen and the glass together! how to remove the the glass from the touchscreen? the glass costs 7 bucks... but the screen about 100 euros... a little difference

The only way to change only the glass is by using precision tools to separate the display and the glass. However you will need great talent, or professional tools to do it. If you're only a beginner, it'd be better to change the whole screen. Maybe you can send the old one to a repair compagny, where they will have the tools to reuse the screen.
