I think I understand this video: The dog represents fear. The guy is afraid of having a relationship with someone. So when an opportunity comes for the guy he always ends up getting afraid and running away from the opportunity (This is when the dog is attacking him). So around the end of the video the guy is in a coffin. I think this represents that the guy thinks he is done. He will never be able to be in a relationship because of his fear. Then the dog attacks while he is still in the coffin, so the fear is still gripping him. Then the woman shows up and she also has a dog. But it's on a leash and not attacking her. She has the fear, but she is able to control it. Basically, everyone has the fear, but you just have to learn to control it.

This song is supposed to be to the love of your life but I relate this to myself. This is a song full of hope and struggle at the same time. We all have demons in ourselves, fears, and dark past, but we gotta believe that we are stronger than our fears. We must not listen from the negativity for it will eat us. We only live once, so we need to live the life we want, for nothing or no one is always there for us. The dog is the man's insecurities. They always "attack" the man, when he is near a girl. However, in the end the man sees, that the girl also has a dog ("insecurities") but the dog is on a leash (she has learned to tame them). So to put it very simple, the video says, that when you are afraid to ask someone out, the person is just as afraid as you are and you should not be afraid to ask him or her out, but deal with the fear :)

When I was 17, I had just started dating my boyfriend. We were poor (I was homeless and living in a youth shelter) and I had nothing. We both loved onerepublic and went to sit outside the concert because it was outdoors and you could see over the fence back then. Someone came up and gave us free tickets, we went in and it was pouring rain. We heard this song for the first time in each other’s arms, dancing gently in the rain. It’s been our song ever since. So, the dog represents his demons i.e. not being confident enough to talk to the girl, then worrying about his financial status and it's impact on how the girl will see him, then the lack of people at his funeral represents how many people he thinks are there for him. Then the girl also has demons, but she's learned to control and deal with hers. So they can work together and help defeat/tame each others demons

At first I did not know what this video meant but then it hit me this brilliant young man -Ryan Tedder- is really smart. So long story short the guy fell in love with the girl and the girl fell in love with the guy that meant true love and the dog killed anyone who was in love because the dog did not have a true love so the funeral scene the guy comes back to life because the girl got the rabid dog a mate and the rabid dog was in love so he decided to give the guy his love back by bringing him back too life and then when -Ryan Tedder- says "And if we only live once I want too live with you" meaning they will never leave each others side and nor will the rabid dogs. Ryan Tedder is AMAZING

I think dogs are fear, if you want something then you should run from fear and go for it.
