So I don't have a key that will go in the ignition, I have a 2014 Ford escape and it's push button only. My second key has not worked except when I put it in the ignition key fob spot on the side of the steering column, which seems to be only a Ford thing, and then it will start. But none of the buttons work without doing that and you can't even start it up without doing that. I went with your method by placing the key fob in that position beside the steering column, and kept turning it on and off until I heard the chime, And it worked! I had looked at about 40 other video clips and articles over the last 3 or 4 months trying to figure out how to get my backup key working again lol So thank you! None of the people who have done one specifically on Fords have been able to show me anything that worked lol. I appreciate you!

Warning ⚠️ for Kia (and likely Hyundai too): If dome lights (room lamps) aren't working, then the smart key won't work in remote mode because the 10A room lamp (odd name) fuse is blown. Replace the 10A fuse and your smart key will work again. I know: stupid logic, but 100% facts
