Just got this to work, had to click on the lock icon in the address bar next to the URL and change the permission for "your device use" to allow from the default ask. Without doing this I could not get my board to connect to start the process. Justin, for real, thank you man. Love my pintX but my pint will now be so fun to take to campus to get around to classes.

For me, this firmware downgrade will let me install a second battery on the fender to triple my pint's range for $200, instead of having to buy a longer range board like a GT.

But…you can also add custom shaping and even change your ride modes to behave more like the XR ride modes. The full patch list can be viewed online.

You would have to spoof your board as an XR and also enable custom shaping in order to be able to do it in the app. I don't generally recommend that (because it's a bit too invasive in my opinion), but it's up to each individual rider what they would like to do. If you decide not to spoof as an XR, you can still access custom shaping via the 'Live' tab of the same site I have demonstrated in this video. My advice: Educate yourself thoroughly prior to moving forward with any firmware patches.

Not to my knowledge. The original server removed all ReWheel content when the original project was shut down. Including content that potentially violates the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA) put servers at risk of being fully shut down so I'm not sure if we'll ever see another public server for that. ​@@1and289 Ahh. I see. The firmware is actually written in a very specific way to interface with the hardware present in the GTS. So, features like Custom Shaping 3.0 (including gradient tracking) aren't able to be directly translated to the Pint. Although it may technically be possible, it would take a lot more than spoofing to be able to enable that for a device like the Pint. It would require a complete overhaul of the firmware as well as the development of a third-party app that was able to give us a UI to control everything. Basically, VESC...

@@1and289 The Pint firmware was able to be reverse-engineered enough to determine how to alter the necessary values for Custom Shaping 2.0. A similar, but more complex, undertaking would need to take place in order for the Pint to even come close to what the GT/GTS can do. And since the wind has been taken out of the sails (by Future Motion) for research and work like that to be done, it's unlikely we'll see it happen any time soon. The legal risk is too high.

And if the OW app will no longer be useable, how does one check diagnostics and stuff? I just got the board today and downloaded the app. I did not let the app update my firmware. Yes, this can be done with Gemini - 5050. The Onewheel app may still be usable (even in a limited capacity), but it depends on which type of phone you have. For iOS, it’s usually best to use Float Remote (TestFlight). For Android, you can download an earlier version of the app via APK.

Why isn't there an option for switching Safe Stop off and on in the available third party apps like Float Remote and OWCE? I can do it from the Live tab in the video, but neither app has it as an option. I'm currently learning to ride while trying to avoid breaking bones, so I'm using the Safe Stop feature until I can figure out how to jump off of the damned board without face planting every time. lol.

What speed do you think I can safely sustain on a pint with 3000km on it? stock battery in good shape. Would be great I could go on centric roads limited to 30kmh (18Mh) without slowing traffic or risking getting fined to ride on the sidewalk. I weight aprox 70kg/ 154lb

Assuming your battery is healthy, that should be a maintainable speed. But be careful accelerating too aggressively below 50-40%.

No. This should not conflict with that. If it does for any reason, you can use nRF to level again. Or (Pro Tip) you can use Factory Mode on the ‘Live’ tab of this same web app as it includes the BLE connectivity commands. I hope this information helps!

Again thank you so much for this! Pint is awesome now but i feel like i can push it further. I initially set speed to 1750 and was hitting 17mph easily before pushback sets. So i just rewheeled again and set speed to 2000 took it for test ride but did not notice a difference. Pushback still at 17mph. Maybe i can try adding the XR behavior patch. Thoughts? (Btw i have Quart S on)

So far, we have not received any reports that it is unable to be completed with newer firmware versions. However, that could change in the future; depending on what Future Motion decides to do in terms of their product design.

It’s flat at this point but I changing it out. Also my battery can only get me about 2 miles on a charge, so I’m changing that out too. I’m really hopping all goes well once I change everything out. For iOS, you can use airplane mode or the Float Remote app (I have a video about Float Remote). For Android, I believe you have to block data and wifi from the Onewheel app or use the OWCE app. These third party apps work better if you’ve ReWheeled to ‘Remove BLE Handshake Check.’

This depends on your original firmware. If you don’t already have 5040 firmware, you won’t be able to revert. That said, using this process, you can always install an unpatched version of the 5040 firmware.

In theory, if you're able to find a way to properly downgrade your board, you'd be able to level and then update again if you wanted to. That said, being somebody who what it takes to do, I'm not aware of any accurate public resources that outline the process. And I can't publicize/publish anything due to the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA) protections.

Just a question about being able flash updates after you've already extracted your key and modded the firmware once before, do you have to do the firmware backup, dump bootloader, and dump settings step again if I already have the backup file from the first time I went through the process? Could i just go straight to the key extractor, save the key and go straight into the patch and flash steps? You technically could skip the backup process next time, but as a precautionary measure, I always recommend getting a new backup file.

Thanks for the support! Unfortunately, we're not quite there yet. The BLE commands that were compatible prior to Cassiopeia - 6132 are no longer compatible. The only way we know to level for 6153 is to do so prior to upgrading. That may change in the future, but dust is still settling on everything at this time.

You should be able to flash still. If you can’t complete the Backup process, it may be worth trying to go straight to the Flash tab. Flashing either the base firmware or one without the spoof patch would be best in your scenario.

Doubtful. If you have previously posi’d your footpad, the deactivation delay will not operate as it normally does (reverts to dual-zone sensor). In your case, the sensor likely acts as a single zone at all times. That will still happen in the event that you attempt to apply the posi patch.

You’re welcome. This web app was designed to work with 5040 only. Each version of firmware is structured a bit differently which means the patches would potentially need to be written differently as well. That said, 5040 is more versatile in terms of modifications and upgrades like extended range batteries.

Unfortunately, no. And that's unrelated to the new updates. The ReWheel project was shut down over DMCA claims and has not been progressed any further since that happened. At that time, only the OG Pint and GT were compatible with the firmware patches. That's where things stand and will likely stand moving forward. But...we never know what might happen down the road.

Assuming you’re on a GT that has not been updated to Cassiopeia - 6153, I’d recommend skipping the digital tilt for now and applying it once you have the rails. However, if you want to take advantage of some of the firmware patches in the meantime, you certainly can.

Absolutely! Just keep in mind that you may end up getting update popups depending on which board model you have. This is because FM is currently pushing updates for the GT and will be pushing updates for the XR, Pint, and Pint X within the next six weeks. The update popup ends up blocking the rest of the functionality of the app. It's not completely unusable, but mostly unusable. The Pint X is not compatible with this method. In order to be compatible, Pint firmware has to be programmed to the Pint X’s microcontroller. And that’s not a process that can be completed via Bluetooth.

These patches aren’t specifically designed to impact the range of the boards in any way. If you’re keeping the same battery and riding in a similar manner, you should expect to maintain similar mileage to what you’re used to.

What’s the top speed that you set? Does it make the board faster?

I don't recommend setting it any higher than 23-24 mph or so (unless you're extremely confident with your own ability to govern your own speed). This setting does not make the board faster. It simply raises the threshold where pushback kicks in. The general rule is to take your desired MPH threshold and multiply it by 88.965. The result is the value you'd enter for your top speed value. For example, ~23 mph would be ~2046.

You can technically just start at the ‘Patches’ tab, but I recommend completing the entire process again to be safe. This is because you will generate a new backup file (that saves your board’s most current stats). In the event that your board gets bricked and needs to be recovered, that up-to-date backup file is extremely important to have.

Hey Justin, I'm thinking about getting the Quart from Chi-battery systems and saw somewhere that haptic buzz is a real headache when switching batteries. So I wanted to get rid of the haptic buzz before ordering the battery. When I go to flash the extractor, the update keeps on failing. No matter how many times I try it, the update just fails. The percentage bar never goes past zero. I am wondering if this has anything to do with the current software of the board being 5314 or something with the Bluetooth on the board. I have tried multiple laptops and am about to try a Samsung phone. If you have any advice, it would be much appreciated.

Allowing custom shaping via this method will not cause haptic buzz to be enabled on your board. That is only a feature of the newer firmware versions. The Onewheel app will not auto-update your board, but it may bug you about updating. There are methods of getting around this.

UPDATE -- board decided to bluetooth as my original board after 2 hours and had flashing lights ready to flash, used previous one i made and works Hey, i think my board is perma bricked. It just shows up as onewheel when pairing, chrome got stuck at 11% when dumping bootloader. I did it 10 mins ago perfectly then changed to flow on app so i could get off skyline then retried, then stuck at 11 percent when doing bootloader and now shoes up as 'onewheel'. Is there any way to repair it or is my pint gone? I can give more info, just would like help. should i join the discord and ask there or contact on website instead?
