Ordered this a few days ago. I've spent probably about 200 + nights in hammocks in every type of weather including down the - 6f I have the eno blaze (still my favorite!) but a few simple tricks for comfort. A few hand warmers I keep a 2 pack in the hammock pocket just incase. If you get cold in the middle of the night I slip one or two in between the hammock and underquilt and it makes life much much better! Cold nights tie tarp down low (you already knew that) and a Costco packable blanket (use as a pillow unless you get cold then pull it out or wrap around your feet. Next thing you should definitely look into is whoopie slings! Best thing ever for hammock suspension! Ultra light, strong! And the easiest ever to adjust your hammock with! I have them on every one of the 25+ hammocks! I make my own with a big spool of amsteel!

Great video! I have the onewind underquilt with the blanket as well. I have been very comfortable in my setup with just the UQ down to low 20's without the blanket. I use a ENO House Fly and will have the doors closed under 30. For a blanket I use an older 30 degree Coleman mummy bag over me. Tonight in KS it is supposed to be 0 with sub 0 windchills, I am using the blanket with my UQ along with the UQ protector tonight with the same blanket I use on my trips. I am a fan of the onewind gear and recommend it to anyone. Hammock, use the Ridge Outdoor 360 and it connects well to my onewind UQ

Thanks for the video. I bought two of these yesterday. I'm looking forward to getting out camping with one of my kids.

Good vid. Just got a one wind underquilt and found this video. I did spend a night in Maine though in 15 deg F. I had a homemade poncho liner underquilt. I added one of those grommeted green/silver survival blankets outside of it with shock cord and small carabiners. Slept with a sleeping bag and another blanket inside the hammock though. Was nice and warm. That’s the coldest temp that I’ve hammocked in.

Pretty snazzy Jamie. I just watched Blackie talk about his hammock. I have a hammock but never spent the night in one. Maybe some day but as of now, I'm still a ground pounder😁

just a tip brother... ive hammock camped in the 20s high winds... heavy snow.with a double nest eno hammock... a cheapo closed foam pad from walmart (the green extra wide foam pad ) its wide enough to wrap arpund your shoulders... also doubles as a hiking pack liner... just roll it up slide in your pack... and open it up as much as it can be... and put your gear in the middle and itll help a great deal with keeping your gear dry... specially if youre dealing with weather that transitions between rain sleet and snow... and i use a sleeping bag inside the hammock.. i use the northface brand bag called "the one bag" its a modular 4 season sleeping bag.. i was comfortable in the lower 20s... and colder than that... teens and colder... you can then setup your tarp as a ground tent... A-frame style... same gear... and use the hammock as an extra outer banket... to block the wind... and youre good down to 10 to 15 degrees... im actually about to try out the onewind... but.. im willing to bet itll go back to one wind...closed foam as long as its wide enough to wrap around your shoulders... works great

I traditionally use a yoga mat in a 2 layer hammock.

@@BurningRiverBushcraft nice... does your yoga mat work well... if so what kind do you use... i switched to a tent setup for a while... but im unhappy with it... amd regearing at the moment... just looked up the cheap $15 mat i use to use... and now its $65🙄 capitalism right... it works... for 1% of the people🤣 i bet those mats cost $1 to make... but anyway... looking for another cheap but wide mat... incase i dont like the onewind underquilt

@@BurningRiverBushcraft another good tip for you... check out the eno housefly...you can set it up low to the ground... and it has door flaps...close them up and hang your extra cloths from your hammock straps... to keep heat in.. and you can run an alcohol stove for heat😉 im a full time traveler and live outdoors year round... and not going to lie... im spoiled... i like to be COMFORTABLE camping🤣

Can you snap the underquilt with itself to create a kind of sleeping bag?
@BurningRiverBushcraft
@BurningRiverBushcraft 3 жыл бұрын
Not easily. The Underquilt and the Top Quilt could be used in a bivy bag if you were sleeping on the ground.

@@BurningRiverBushcraft Thanks, yes my idea is to use it as a top quilt over a summer sleeping bag, I have the onewind poncho/blanket that turns into a top quilt, I'm using it as underquilt too but there is only one thightning rope on one side, that's my problem.

I have some more Onewind videos I need to make. I will make a video on using the Onewind system on the ground as a makeshift sleeping bag.

I’m confused when you said you’re 6 foot but then you’re using a 10 foot hammock… I am 511 240lbs…so I have a 12 foot hammock… So it’s long enough and I have plenty of room to be able to get a diagonal lay…

@@BurningRiverBushcraft I had a cheap 10ft double.. couldn’t get comfortable. Legs and feet would go numb a bit. Got the 12ft coming from Onewind.. I hope it works out. It’s definitely long and it’s a double. 👍🏻
