Can't wait until Disney acquires Nostalgiaverse and we get a Kingdom Hearts world based on Kickassia and whatever that fetishist fever dream in 'the Wall' review was. Imagine the possibilities: - Sora trying to lecture Linkara about hearts and bonds while he just keeps slapping his belly over the loss of Iron Liz to the Heartless. - NC's nobody, Gudox, having an existential crisis from being an irregularity; something his former self would've screeched over till no tomorrow. - It's revealed NC remembered Chain of Memories' plot so Sora didn't have to. - a secret boss battle against Melvin, brother of the Joker. After KH3 and Dream Drop Distance, nothing's too farfetched for this series any longer.

I get the feeling that the Wall episode was made with a minimum of effort, by recruiting as many people as possible to help him, probably for little to no compensation. There was a guy who wrote and composed and arranged all the songs, and at the end Doug shilled an album made of all the songs from the episode that the guy was selling, that was probably the deal they made. Corey Taylor mostly just sat in a chair for a few scenes, but his presence in the episode probably convinced a lot of people to volunteer to help or to appear in crowd shots or whatever. This is always how Channel Awesome operated, manipulating people into helping for little or nothing, at least that was my main takeaway from that Google doc. Also, as Chris himself pointed out, the guy who did the CG has a channel full of videos where he interacts with his weird characters in his house, this probably gives him some kind of weird pleasure, maybe Doug and company figured it would probably be easy to get this guy to do free CG for him but only if it clearly ties in to his weird and possibly perverted webseries, so Doug probably was saddled with those character designs.

The Satellite City series is basically a project to reflect his book. Allowing viewers to see the characters and understand their world and mannerisms before being launched into a novel of what could be considered complete insanity without context. Fennah understands how to ease in his audience. However, Doug has no concept of this, and The Wall video was a clear example of that.

It’s impossible for me personally to disassociate Doug Walker from the Jewario controversy, the idiotic downfall of Spoony, and the multiple sexual misconduct related to Channrl Awesome. Doug and Rob stand on the same podium as Mike Michaud, so I find them just as responsible. I’ll give him credit for being so abstinent from the drama, but his success doesn’t excuse his unprofessionalism.
@danielyoung67785 жыл бұрын
He failed by inaction it's not even that he's a malicious guy it honestly doesn't seem like he is outside the ego, but he willfully went along with all the horrible stuff when he could have done something. But tbh it's Brad that hit got me worse because I was a bigger fan of him and he turned his back on everyone for reasons I can't fathom.
@theodorehodbor50805 жыл бұрын
To be fair though doesn't Mike basically have a massive pigeon-hold on the entirety of Channel Awesome because of how for some brainlet reason he holds the rights to the Nostalgia Critic IP? Because I've heard that if he didn't have that he would've been forced out of the company ages ago.

Again I don't think he's a malicious guy but Channel Awesome needed to die and he had friends among people who Mike Michuad had mistreated from my understanding. It's just something that makes me personally lose Respect for the guy and it seems it backfired in that it cost him some friendships in his in house group of friends who stopped associating with his channel.

Is it common knowledge that Nostalgia Critic's intro is just a ripoff of The Show Must Go On by Queen?
@DrSpikeSpiegel5 жыл бұрын
Yes, his theme song "The Review Must Go On" comes from his Moulin Rouge review, where he sings a version of that movie's cover of "The Show Must Go On". Doug considered that review his masterpiece, and decided to make the song his intro following his reboot of the "Nostalgia Critic" character in the final episode of Demo Reel. This is all part of the official Nostalgia Critic lore.

My personal theory about what happened with The Wall review: Doug simply didn't get it, but I don't mean that in an elitist kinda way. What I mean is he didn't understand what The Wall was about, the story behind it, the characters, the overall style, everything. What he saw was random events and scenes with characters that made no sense to him. He didn't research it properly and just parodied what he personally saw. The result being an absolute mess of random events, non-established characters, and monsters/creatures that seemed completely out of place because that's what he thought it was. That's why it failed so hard - he unfortunately missed the point by miles because he personally didn't see it - and to be honest, without going into it in depth and taking the time to put the pieces together, that's how it can seem the first time around. Personally, I didn't get it all at first. However I love the album and each time I've listened I got more clarity on the story.

It's funny how in the Doug Walker's reviews like Eight Crazy Nights and Beauty and the Beast (live action) he makes fun of people for liking a movie that he hates. Yet Doug himself said that he can't stand people who ridicules others for liking movies that they do not particularly enjoy. I just do not get this man.
