The big update is due to mihoyo more or less “accidentally” adding old audio files from older events and story. This could increase in size depending on how much languages you downloaded but like the other comment said, in 2.8 they will remove these to decrease game size since it’s unnecessary space.

I mean, it's not, but it's not as bad at this point. You can still do all the things you need to do with the free characters, and for now there is a much higher chance of getting characters from Mondstadt and Liyue (which means you can ascend them and actually use them.) As for 5 stars... it's probably better to stick to the standard banner unless you really like the 5 star or if you can get their ascension materials. I'm more worried about the players joining when the story is mostly done 😅
