The Godspeed Strike was not completely fair as while you did get the baseline for Godspeed Strike you did went ahead and equipped an ability to the magic casters. Thats an advantage you gave them. It wont change the result much, but its an observation I must make. If equipping those abilities to the mages, a more fair comparison would have the Thief equipped with Across and Epic Group Cast so that the ultimate targets are the same. Second, you insisted on not giving Godspeed Strike to a stronger melee job, but tested magic with combinations. PS- Still liked the video

TLDR; [GSS is not a very moddable attack unlike many other attacks in the game. With pretty much no unique ways to buff it (that also don't just apply to anyone), the limited nature of GSS makes it already a Control group for a fair experiment. GSS is left behind by other classes' moddable attacks, as shown. In other words, GSS is strong out the gate, but as the game goes on, many classes and attacks get boosted while GSS is left in a mostly vanilla state. GSS is linear while other options are quadratic.] Thank you for watching and I'm glad you brought this up, because it gives me a chance to further explain. I can see your point of comparing an umodded attack to a modded attack and I want to remind you, that is a limitation of GSS, not the experiment, which exposes that. Remember, the point of the comparison is vanilla Godspeed strike to other attacks and what it took other attacks to compare them to the GSS, showing that other minimum setups are very comparable with plenty of room for personal touches. Many classes have natural abilities or attacks that depend on other circumstances, unlike GSS which a pretty simple strong attack. Please understand the nature of a controlled experiment. The vanilla GSS was the Control group and whole point of a Control group is NOT to modify it. The other builds where the Experimental group and you are supposed to tinker with them. That's why it is completely fair. Furthermore GSS is also a safe control group because there really aren't ANY abilities that really change the attack in a unique way. Because: 1) Across the Board+Epic Group-Cast can make it hit the whole group for normal dmg... but everyone else can do the same so that makes it a useless variable 2) GSS can benefit from maxing out PhyAttack/Speed .... but everyone else can also benefit from max stats so that's a useless variable 3) GSS can hit weapon weakness ... everyone else can also target a weapon/element weakness so that's a useless variable (except in Pictomancer/Oracle's case because they specifically have Daub or a specialty that targets weaknesses, so that is their gimmick). If it makes you feel better, I DID originally do a separate experimental group Thief with just Natural Talent to triple its PhyAttack to show a boosted GSS with no gear, and the results were 10k normal 15 crit, so 20k normal, 30k crit dmg ... While other setups still matched or beat, I realized if I buffed the control group, it defeats the purpose of the experiment. (Besides, most ppl are not going to run a Natural Talent Thief, let's be honest). If anything, I didn't want to embarrass GSS more by showing how a Gambler can outdamage even if the Thief was boosted. Note I already accounted for the 4 classes that, just with base stats, can GSS strike harder than a thief. That is why I just mentioned them and did not show them (no point, and no new conclusions to be made from that). If I were showing another another class using thief's GS, then that's not a baseline for consistent stats. This was not a 'Who does GSS best' experiment (because the answer is always beastmaster) this was, 'which attacks can hit, with minimal effort, to regular thief using regular GSS'. You will note most of the experimental setups where just in their native class too, not getting stat buffs, so again, very fair. Finally , GSS is normally a single target attack. Yes, Across the Board makes it group-target, but then I also could have used Across the Board and used the ultimate single-target spells for the mages too and they still would out-damage. The mid-tier spells selected were already group spells without any modification so it's very fair. They just have access to a mechanic [Reflect] that GSS cannot take advantage of, which again, shows the limited nature of GSS. Again, you do NOT alter the control group if you want useful data (not that GSS can really be altered in meaningful ways to begin with). I hope that clear things up. The intent is to show if you want big number dmg. GSS is not the only/best way to go so you can play how you like. 👍

I know this vid's a little old now, but I think I've made the most broken team setup in the game, which I like to call the Phantom Build. For the build, you need to master Phantom for 3 of your characters to get the "Results Guaranteed" second specialty, Have a: Swordsmaster/Phantom (with double duty) (Attacker) shielmaster/oracle (Defense) Phantom/Beastmaster (Thief/catcher) Phantom/Salvemaker (Support) Next, put: Counter-Savy, Multitask, Indiscriminate Rage, Critical Flow, and Counter on your attacker (Make sure they Dual wield either swords or daggers so they get the double duty specialty) Put Mug, magpie, Indiscriminate Rage, Rob Blind, Beast whisper, on your thief Put Rewarding Results, Attack Item Amp, Healing Item Amp, and Sub-Job Specialty 1 on your support Finally, No Guts No glory, BP limit Up, and Revenge on your Defense (Fill with whatever you want) This build exploits the hell out of "Results Guaranteed" on phantom and allows anything with a percentage chance to happen to happen EVERY TIME for 40 mp. With this setup you to capture whichever monster you want at full health, Team mug every group of enemies (getting two of every rare item as much as possible) Constantly destroy mobs of enemies with your Swordmaster (which will always crit, always have max BP, and always attack several times in a row thanks to solid stance, multitask, and your defender/oracle which guards the whole team and uses elemental supplement on your attacker) and your support can always inflict several status effects (guaranteed to get a free turn each time they do it), guaranteed to always apply status on all enemies, and on top of that then spam elixers on the entire team for FREE with widen area (as long as you have one in your inventory) or multidotes for FREE with compounding Hopefully someone out there enjoys this monsterously broken build as much as I have.

If anyone’s reading this who hasn’t already beaten the game, I recommend just making your own builds and not waiting for sub-job 2, even though that seems to unlock most of the interesting builds in the game. If you end up doing ng+ and having fun with sub-job 2, that’s great, but don’t let the anticipation ruin your first playthrough like I did. Edit: to be clear, though, this isn’t to blame or diminish the work of the creator of this awesome video. Red Mage with Black Mage sub is amazing, with the right equipment you can max out MP and with Beastmaster MP saver combined with the Master Special you can have an extremely lethal damage output
@shinnemort42713 жыл бұрын
1- a tip for Shieldmaster- you can Bodyguard 3x in a row to completely tank ALL (and i mean LITERALLY ALL) damage any of your party takes until your shieldmaster's next turn. this includes Arcanist all hitters (meaning you can only set up 1 ally to absorb the spells), enemy AOE, and random target damage. Protect Ally also works the same, so you can pair Last Resort with it for Crazy high stats, and your other characters take no damage, which can be extremely useful for classes with lower base stats IE. Red Mage or Ranger. 2- also consider Dragoon for Salve maker sub job thanks to 0 cost Soul Crush, being able to remove an enemy's BP 3- Wild Wizardry unlike the dual element all hitters IS affected by Reflect, which can be fun to play around with Results Guaranteed. 4- one thing to be aware of- the stat cap. All stats are capped at 999 including buffs. this means that more often than not, Freelancer in postgame + last resort Actually loses damage compared to other classes due to you probably hitting 999 atk, and the abilities Brute Force and Raw Power follow the same principle, as well as Become the lightning, Wall, Death Throes, Aggravate, etc. The Bard's Buffs are worded to be exempt from this, as they buff damage, not the actual stat. Bun Farming also makes these abilities get massive diminishing returns. 5- speaking of Buns, this kinda imo makes base stats on classes much less useful in postgame since you can just farm buns to make up negative stats on a job, again like Ranger or Red Mage, which is really interesting as sort of a nerf to Freelancer or Beastmaster, as they get less value thanks to the cap and buns. 6- Triple iirc is has the higest damage level, as you can hit over 5, and possibly nearly 10 mill in 4 BP, so it's the best one of the best spells in the game. Disaster, on the other hand, is one of the most reliable spells, as it's the only single target dual-element spell in the game, which means you get more damage out of hitting weaknesses.

Chaining in the final dungeon with obliterate is by far the best grind in the post game. With a single growth egg per character, it is possible to get legendary in a single battle if a few wikis show up (5000-6000 jp on screen which comes out to easily around 20k).

I can’t understate just how good Shield master is when you hit endgame. Something you didn’t really mention is that sub-job specialty 2 works for Late Bloomer and Creature Comforts so a Shieldmaster with Freelancer sub-job and specialty 2 turns your bodyguard into an indestructible wall that can take all but the biggest of hits
@deebee53783 жыл бұрын
The fastest way I've found to grind jp: First you'll need to be high level enough to scare monsters at the beach the protagonist washed up on. Ideally, have some aquatic monster bait and the berserker skill to hit all enemies. These monsters will drop bait to replenish it Go to the beach the main character washed up on in the beginning of the game. go all the way to the eastern peninsula, there should be some grass and palm trees. wait until there are 2 slimes spawned. scare the slimes away, trying to get them to hug the coastline to keep them together while you send them west to the opposite side of the beach (towards the wreckage). along the way, scare any other monsters in the same direction, try to keep them together. Do that until you get all the monsters into the corner on the west end of the beach, all mushed together. keep them together and synced up until nightfall, you'll want them facing you at the same time as they turn around (you can do that by stepping back and waiting until most of them turn around, then scare them. you'll eventually get them synced up). use an aquatic monster bait right before they all face you. let them all get hearts above their heads and while they're still close together, initiate the fight and kill everything. Do whatever makes it go faster in terms of skills and equipment This takes a few minutes to set up, and you get about 1400 jp each time depending on how much you maximized the circumstances (monsters seem to show up in bigger groups at night, and using bait to get hearts above as many of their heads as possible will add even more consecutive battles) The set up is tedious, but doing this 4 or 5 times will get a job to lvl 12 in a matter of minutes To do it again, use another kind of bait to clear out the effect, go back to the palm tree area to the east and wait until 2 slimes respawn and repeat. Max out freelancer first to get the jp up skills and equip them. Bonus: Have your fastest character equip the berserker skill and the beastmaster skill that auto-captures defeated monsters. You'll make any lvl 12 beastmaster's stat bonus ridiculously high the more monsters you have captured. I recommend this for killing trash mobs in dungeons on the way to the bosses too. Use mug, rare item, and money bonuses if you want, but they don't really drop much

A word of warning with growth eggs: They are badly described. I have tested this in NG+ and I have found that they do not double your EXP, but add the base EXP back on to itself. Therefore if you equip two of them, you will get triple EXP, rather than quadruple as one would expect from the description The same works for Rob Blind; equipping this with two Givampuli (Good luck getting those) gives 4x the stealable items, rather than 8x.

I used Swordmaster (main) + Shieldmaster (sub) as a retaliation tank. When you compensate for SWM's lower defenses (such as with a Guardian in each hand while utilizing Dual Wield) it can deal as much damage as it takes. With using SHM's specialty 2, you can use Defender of the People to build up BP (while having Revenge for self) and Fluid Stance w/ Fluid Style punishes enemies and bosses with a counter that actually knocks them down -1 BP when attacking an individual unit that the character is defending. Now I have seen downsides to this as you need to compensate with constant healing and temporary hitpoints to ensure they don't get knocked out too quickly, but having a spiritmaster in party helps with this due to their specialty 2, reraise, and regeneration. Wanna have fun trolling enemies for getting to antsy? Try this combo.

My go to for attackers are 2 swordmasters equiped with 2 swords/daggers and ranger as the subjob, so that I get stronger with each attack, then spam the ninefold thing with multitask and those other 2 abilities from the beast master that rises your attack the more you brave in a turn. The result is that I usually end singles bosses in 2 of those. For defence, I have 1 shieldmaster with 2 shields and revenge from the red mage to gain bp by receiving hits. Everyone else in my party is at critical hp so that the shieldmaster takes every hit (even area ones) and oracle as the subjob. With oracle I can give an elemental atribute to the non-magical attacks of an enemy of my choice, and that element is always one my shieldmaster is immune to.

"the reflect trick (rocking since 1990)" fuck yeah, i loved to do this. sadly didn't work in FF6 unless you were already near the damage cap anyway, but in that game i just used fire shields and meltdown to get crazy as shit spell potential - meltdown being that spell that does fire/wind damage to everything on the field, fire shield making that absorb incoming attack rather than damage you - sort of like using float + quake for easy powerful 'hits everything' without having to worry about killing yourself sort of stuff. 9 especially given vivi can get a skill to boost black magic's damage if it's reflected off an ally. and 12 (pre job, though still doable) you could use this to get around the damage cap, sorta, with a black mage - 3 allies reflecting 3 firagas at 9999 damage means it gets 3 hits in for one spell cast. some games this wouldn't work really, like FFX most skills being single target and no 'attack all' easily doable skills for something like this, or FF6 where spells are basically halved if multicast, then the reflections are also halved - so you'd do 4 hits of 1/4th damage and it'd be kinda pointless outside of maybe same with the ff12 way to get around 9999 damage cap.

You mentioned the miniboss in Savalon but I noticed by that point you were level 87, and at 77 you can just use the Obliterate passive from the final dungeon in Chapter 6 to simple chain battles that way with Queen Wiki-Wikis. I did that and ended up with thousands of JP with ease. Not even counting the "JP up" combined with the "JP up and up" skills from Freelancer. Also, the miniboss right by the Hydrangea Hills entrance (the flower monster, forget the name) is also by an entrance to an area transition. And can be done significantly earlier too, due to having about 1/3 the HP. And no adds to eliminate. Not to mention being easier to go back to Halcyonia through the overworld, rather than trekking back through the Savalon Underground to go restock if needed in Savalon.

Swordmaster paired with phantom can get guaranteed multitasks and auto crit with the two specialties and works super well with solid stance. If you have an oracle on the team to give an elemental buff to their attacks or a pictomancer to set up daub then the auto crits can be highly relevant. You could also pair it with aspir or drain attack so that results guaranteed isn't sucking your mp too much and hp restoration for every hit helps compensate a swordmaster's mediocre defense. You can also use become the lightning for further attack buffs. It's not the best once you get legendary levels for the jobs but it's there well before you get ninefold flurry. Fourfold flurry could do roughly the same damage but you can't pair it with drain attack or indiscriminate rage.

I do like how you go a lot more in depth on the Jobs and synergies they can provide in this: Is there any chance you might re-visit BD and BS with updated guides similar to this one? I feel like you give a lot more detail and ideas in this video compared to the previous games. Case in point, I feel you missed some of Bishop's greatest strengths with certain abilities. Like the classic Epic Group Cast Benediction, which gives you a full party heal for 24 MP versus White Mage's 40 MP Curaga which may not even be a full heal depending on MND stat. Group Cast on Astrologian is another powerful combo, as it effectively gives you things like party wide elemental/status barriers, and slightly stronger buffs than a Performer (At the cost of not having Perform's multi-buffs, admittedly). I really would love to see this kind of detail and build recommendation from this video done again for Bravely Default and Bravely Second, as it'd make for some good ideas on future playthroughs. Even a writeup would be nice if you'd be up to it and didn't want to dedicate a whole video. Long story short: I suck at coming up with good builds: You on the other hand seem to have a knack for it. HALP.

Thanks for watching all the guides... I guess comparing this to how I wrote Bravely Second 5 years ago shows some growth. I know going forward, I intended to continue working on my guides, but I cannot promise revisiting the previous Bravely guides (these guides are very exhausting and time consuming, I'm afraid). Tell you what, if Square Enix decides to port the bravely games with a HD version on any platform, then I will cover the new ports with renewed effort. 👍

My experience with the arcanist is thinking it would be bad due to hitting team mates, but trying it out anyways. Followed by being utterly flabbergasted when shield master seth blocked the entire attack for the party and took no damage. After seeing the biggest weakness of the job being nullified it easily became my favorite in the game.

Oracle can make every boss after it really easy with elemental suppliment. You can pass an element to the enemy that your are immune to and take 0 damage

So, another interesting thing with the Shieldmaster/Vanguard combo is that it allows the character to build up BP by taking hits for the party, then with Sub Job BP saver, it can freely distribute that BP to the rest of the party before Defending the People to build it up again. If you're looking for a pure tank to support the party with, then it's easily my favorite job combo to work with. Thief's Sub Job Specialty 2 is another way to use those BP intensive skills more readily, since it changes their cost to MP instead. I found it especially hilarious to use with Bravebearer's BP Bump to effectively give my entire party 3 BP every time the Thief's turn came up. One final note, if you don't mind adding it into the video somehow, would be to include the descriptions of the jobs' Specialty abilities. I legitimately have no idea what Bastion's is, for example, so being able to pause and refresh my memory would be handy. It's probably in the description of the video. I should have checked that first...

The amount of BP manipulation avaible to you is what made me think that counter: any actions +1BP was not as bad as I thought to be and borderline needed so that bosses weren't a cakewalk

This game series reminds me of Disgaea in spirit. Like the game is too hard and grinding doesn't really help. But you are supposed to learn about the game's jobs and skills and create broken monsters that would destroy any challenge (In Disgaea it was finding loophole in grinding where you would do pretty much get 10 battle's worth of exp in 1).
@shadenox81643 жыл бұрын
10 battles worth of XP in 1 I'd argue is the kind of numbers you'd get in Disgaea when you're still learning how to do it.

There is one nitpick I have. Weapon proficiency affects Phys/Mag Damage, not ATT, otherwise proficiency would have no effect at 999 ATK. This is easily provable by unequipping and equipping a Lore passive on a 999 ATK character. 999 ATK is a hard cap, so anything affecting ATK is useless if you're bunned up to 999. Bard can buff Phys/Mag Damage which is why it works even on a max attack character.
@gnabaer3 жыл бұрын
I found, that getting jp was fastest for me by just getting the orbs from grinding the bosses for the job weapons. The +70% from passivs was enough to get a job from 12 to 15 in one giant jp orb. The go to dps for me was focal blast, mimic x3. It hit for around 30-40k a hit with my "setup" beeing only 100crit (thanks to senseis belts) and 999patk with brute force leaving the weapons to be open to have the ones equipt that have usefull passives (the beastmaster spear + holy blade). But i never did any real testing and just went with what worked early on. Also I tought the mimic description was wrong because it seemed that you could not target anyone other than yourself (or i just understand it wrong)

try obliterate with monster food and the strongest wiki's in the game. if your strong enough to decimate the aterisk portals so cleanly then u more then have the level requirement to obliterate your way to up to 2k+ base JP in about 15 seconds. with enough luck on the wiki's u can legendary your job on all 4 chars in a single fight

it's worth to point out that growth egg does stack and work with the jp orbs

@@neobahumuth6 the thing with the last job class for me was, that thanks to grinding the job bosses I had more than enough (capped out at 99 after an hour or so) of the jp orbs and had all the jobs maxed out. But against the bosses the last job class seems quit useless. With ~120 hours play time (I left the console on for a few days) the damage was very lacking. I guess if you maxed out either enemys defeated or hours played it would deal more dmg but my first comment was just about the fact, that even without much setup you deal more than enough dmg to easyly beat the game on normal. (I have to admit I do not even know what exacly the difficulty changes enemy wise). The only real "problem" I had was the job boss that refelcts physical dmg. I just had to revive 3 out of 4 party member after the fight and could not "afk" farm it.

Counter-savvy with phantom should be considered. This allows the squishier phantom to attack bosses without worry, and when combined with other abilities, this means that the phantom will get bp back if the boss tries to counter.

Can I have some class leveling recs? For Seth I have Spiritmaster, white mage, and bard maxed I think. For Gloria, Vanguard, Berserker, and Bastion. For Elvis, Black Mage, red mage, pictomancer. For Adelle, freelancer, ranger, phantom. Most have one or two partly leveled.

The Vangaurd is such a good secondary class. I'm really surprised it didnt show up much on this list. Sub job bp saver for free ultimatums and bp hand outs

My Team because why not Seth: White Mage/Bard. Noble sacrifice (for team wipe clutches which actually saved me once), MP saver, Better then ever, Born entertainer and Solar Powered Gloria: Bastion/ Spiritmaster. (Gloria stuff isn't finished yet) Elvis: Dragoon/Berserker. Full-force, Sky high, Indiscriminate rage, Free for all,) Adelle: Pictomancer/Oracle. (isn't finished either)
@Demi-Joker3 жыл бұрын
At the endgame, Elvis was kind of kinda there. He was a Bard + Pictomancer, but was formerly BM + RM (idk why I used BM + RM instead of RM + BM). Then there's Gloria. Holistic Medicine let's her group-cast Reraise because WM + Spiritmaster is just built different. Adelle is where it starts getting disgusting, though. Adelle was Shieldmaster + Bastion, and I gave her Executioner's Blade (the Swordmaster weapon), so I'm sure you know where this is going. But Seth, though. *H O O B O Y* He's a Bravebearer + Thief wielding Givampalui (the Thief weapon) and Vengeance (the Phantom weapon) that SHAMELESSLY abuses everything. Godspeed Strike being unable to miss, all the while exceeding 9999 more often than not? Check. Giving the entire party a BP at the cost of MP? CHECK. The stats of Shaggy Rogers using his FULL POWER?!............................. *I'VE CREATED A MONSTER* Seth alone is enough incriminating evidence to keep me locked up even after dying, Gloria and Adelle are accomplices, and Elvis is too high on booster buns to even know what's going on. Anyways, I haven't gotten any sleep in the past couple days, so I'm just gonna go.

Well, Godspeed Strike can obtain quite early in the game, and most of the boss is a single boss, so I think it's quite common. But I think there're one more reason to use GSS, is because it depends on Speed Stat. We all know that Speed Stat can make the turn come faster. So for 1 turn - damage it may fall compare to the others, but in practical, I think it has some side benefit.
