This may be the only video I've found that not only shows how to get the black vest, but *what it looks in action*. I know you were discouraged by the end of the run, but watching those buttery smooth issen at the beginning and middle of the run was an absolute joy.

Thanks for the encouragement! And yes, pulling off those issens are one of the best moments for sure. I actually think this can be said on every Onimusha games. Hope they will somehow remaster the rest of it.

@@Kanon71255 I may be in the minority, but I’m hoping they’ll remaster the second. The third was is my not-even-close favorite, but both it and Onimusha 4 allow the analog stick to be used as a joystick for walking. Your video illustrates how fast the D-pad can be for movement, but the joystick is really handy when you’re new.

Ah yes, the joystick is definitely handy. And no you're not in the minority for that. In fact, there's actually many people who like Oni 2 and want it to be remaster. But I personally prefer 3 more because of the combat. I think it's a big step up compare to the others. It definitely felt more responsive and fluid for me.

@@Kanon71255 I’ve played a bit of Onimusha 4, and I played the remaster of Onimusha 1. I couldn’t agree more about O3’s smooth, fluid play. I remember picking up O1 and O2 and realizing the joystick didn’t work like it does in O3. I quickly gave up on those games. 😅

Hah yea I get what you mean. It definitely felt like a big downgrade if you started the series from Oni3 first. But I personally think Oni1 remaster' joystick is not that smooth. Guess it's partly because of how they ported the joystick feature from the tank control. The joystick movement felt robotic to me lol.

Tell me which enemies you're having problem with. I can share you some tips on how I get the timing down. It might help. And after that, it's all about constant practices.

Buen speedrun pero debes de estar conciente que puedes mejorar los tiempos, sobretodo al comenzar, hasta llegar al templo del agua donde ya puedes aligerar un poco las cosas al completar el modo entrenamiento y obtener el traje negro de ako. Puedes mejorar más en los criticos y no guardes la partida te ahorraras segundos y si usas el equipo máximo puedes bajar los tiempos considerablemente.

I'm playing this on PC. This game used to be available on Steam but sadly, it was delisted few years ago. Hope 1 day they will give Onimusha the RE's treatment and remake them tbh. I'd love to see that.

Hi. noob question from my own curiosity as i never acquired the black vest myself (as i too suck to complete critical training :P ). but why did you always unequip black vest before boss fight? was it coz black vest critical wouldn't work on boss, or to reduce the risk of getting one-shot from boss due to the vest effect of reducing your own hp everytime a critical's triggered? anyway amazing run, keep up the good work 😄

Thanks! And don't worry, it's definitely not a noob question xD. The reason is actually kind of both. Black vest auto critical won't work on bosses. But if you perform manual critical on the boss with the vest on, your hp will still get deducted for some reason.

Sorry for the late reply. Unfortunately, there's no easy way to do it beside lots of practices. You need your muscle memory's help here. The crit training in training mode is your best place to practice on normal enemies. For bosses, you can create a save file before every boss fight to practice on them. If you have any enemies in mind that you're having problem with, feel free to ask me. I'll share some of the cues I used. But of course, in the end, you still have to practice it yourself in order to get the timing down.

Black vest auto Issen won't work on bosses. And if you perform manual Issen on the boss with the vest on, your hp will still get deducted for some reason. Not sure if this is a bug of intentional though xD.

Just push the left joystick at the direction you want, then press the stance button + Up on D-pad. You can only do it on controller. Some extra info. Jacques actually move faster when sliding backward and Samanosuke slide faster forward.
