This is an amazing play through! Just one thing: at 10:20 you say that you could play your blue key before drawing up to five (in order to peek ahead and change the order of the cards), but I don't believe you're allowed to do that. You can only play cards during the "Play or Discard" phase, OR when opening a door or banishing a dream in the "Draw" phase. Otherwise, the "Draw" phase continues (with no discards allowed) until you have five cards in your hands. Then shuffle and repeat. :)

At 35:23, after the prophecy and with five cards back in your hand, you didn't play a card but drew a sixth card. This is the first time I see the game being played but I assume it was a mistake.
@Thatwasademo8 жыл бұрын
+VULTUSPRIME It was a mistake, but not an important one. She could have just as easily discarded the blue card in her hand for the same result.
@chuckm19618 жыл бұрын
At about 10:00 in, you are re-drawing your hand and you have 3 cards. You are thus in Phase 2 of the game (Fill Your Hand). You draw one card. Then with four cards in hand, you pause and note the blue key card in your hand and discuss whether you should discard it to Prophecy. But can you Prophecy once you have reached Phase 2/Fill Your Hand? Seems like the rules don't allow that, as I read them.

Sigh...ok, not only have I ordered this first edition game, after watching your video, but I have now pre-ordered the second edition, which has some new artwork, and more expansions. @JestAGoof10 жыл бұрын
From what I have heard, there is some different artwork on the cards. Not all new artwork, but mostly new, plus it will have 7 expansions, compared to the current 3. That is 4 newer expansions, or variations added. I believe it also opens up a 2 player option as well, but I am not sure if that is new or not, having not yet received my first edition yet. If any or all of that interests you, then it may be worth checking out.

I love this game! I've only played the solo version, but as far as I'm concerned it's the ultimate solo card game; all the expansions are fun and easy to grasp, it's extremely well-balanced (even when you're a "pro" you still need to think about what you're doing, and you tend to win with only a few cards to spare), the art is beautiful, and it's surprisingly relaxing. The designer's other game (Urbion) is more of a thoughtful exercise, and I find that "Friday" doesn't quite hold up to repeated play (though it's still fun!) I'm really looking forward to the special edition coming out this fall...my deck is falling apart after all that shuffling!
@SoloMcLaughlin10 жыл бұрын
Adam Thornton I'm glad for the reprint too. I think this is such a gem of a game for only a deck of cards! I just picked up Urbion but haven't opened it up yet. The art is a big draw for me too. Glad to find another fan out there!
@Muffysb10 жыл бұрын
Solo McLaughlin I know what you mean! I've tried to get a few other people interested in it, but they seem to find it too complicated, or they don't see the strategy behind it...it's one of those games that might be best discovered on your own (or in a play through!) Have you tried Urbion yet? There's a lot going on in that one that isn't obvious at first. Torbey has two other games coming out soon as well. Should be a good year!

I have discarding all cards in my hand to resolve a nightmare. When now i drew 5 cards to replenish, 2 of these cards are nightmares. What should i do?
@SoloMcLaughlin10 жыл бұрын
Put both those nightmares in your limbo pile and draw 2 more cards. If you draw another nightmare or door, put those into limbo and keep drawing until you have 5 basic symbol cards. When you are drawing 5 cards (at the start of the game or to kill a nightmare), you must put any doors or nightmares you draw into limbo. Keep drawing until you have 5 basic symbol cards. Then, take your limbo pile of nightmares and/or doors and shuffle them back into your dream deck before you start up playing again.
@torilehman62767 жыл бұрын
I'm confused on the discard and limbo piles. She discarded a nightmare but also put one in limbo saying she can't discard nightmares and doors
@prawnchips94617 жыл бұрын
You can only discard a nightmare card when you prophecy and must discard 1 card among the top 5 cards from deck, or after resolving a nightmare when you draw one during you refill your hand. You put the drawn nightmare card to limbo pile when you draw 5 starting cards at the beginning of the game, draw a new hand after you resolve a nightmare by discarding your hand, and when you discard top 5 cards on the deck to resolve a nightmare (so if the top 5 cards on the deck are consist of 1 nightmare and 4 location cards, you put that nightmare to limbo pile and all location cards to discard pile)
@kenkressin852610 жыл бұрын
Delightful. Thanks a bunch.

And also what happens in this case: I decide to use my key to get rid of a nightmare.i need to take 2 cards to make it 5 cards now.i draw a nightmare and a normal card.should i put the nightmare card in limbo and draw another card?
@SoloMcLaughlin10 жыл бұрын
Dreamchaser99 No limbo here. You have to fight that nightmare! So if you have 4 cards and one is a key, you need to draw a card. You draw a 5th card but it is a nightmare. You cancel it with a key leaving you with only 3 cards. So, you go to draw a card and it's another nightmare. You have to fight it. Let's say you decide to discard your hand of 3 cards. Now you have no cards in your hand so you need to draw 5. If you pull any nightmares or doors, you get to limbo them and keep drawing. Hope that helps!

I was actually not considering this game but you make this game look amazing! Just wanted to ask, when exactly would one be allowed and not allowed to discard a nightmare card?
@MrDbox8610 жыл бұрын
I Just picked up this game and one hypothetical question came to mind that you might be able to help me with. If either at the beginning of the game or after discarding your hand due to a nightmare, while starting to build your hand the first card drawn is a key card and then the next card you draw is a door of the same color, would you be able to keep that door or does it go into the limbo pile? Thanks a bunch and Great video by the way. It was a key factor in me picking up this game.
@SoloMcLaughlin10 жыл бұрын
MrDbox86 Bad news. You limbo it, Anytime you are drawing a full hand (either at the start or after dealing with a nightmare) any doors/nightmares you pull are put in the limbo pile and shuffled back into your dream deck once you reach your full hand size. It is a miserable feeling to watch a key and door pop one after another. Drat those nightmares! Hope you are enjoying the game & thanks for you kind words.
@MrDbox8610 жыл бұрын
Solo McLaughlin Thanks again.
@Dreamchaser9910 жыл бұрын
Thanks. Say I have 3 cards and when I draw another one, it is a nightmare. and then I draw another one, it is also a nightmare. My hand is now 5 cards. But how do I deal with both these nightmare cards. Should I have stopped at the first nightmare and dealt with it say by discarding my 3 cards. And then deal with the 2nd nightmare (bearing in mind that I would not have any cards in my hand by now)?
@joecaldwell112410 жыл бұрын
I'm pretty sure that's the case. You deal with the first nightmare. If you choose to discard your hand, then you draw back up to 5 limbo-ing the next nightmare & any doors.

I read the instructions as "the card must be played in such a way that the previous card remains partly visible". It does not say what side of the previous card you have to play it on. Further, if I read the directions word for word it seems to me that I could play it anywhere. Do you agree with at least playing it on either side? Ps The sister game Urbion is fun also.
@SoloMcLaughlin9 жыл бұрын
Knowdis96 When you start, you can pick which side to play on. Since the symbols are the same for the labyrinth cards it really doesn't matter which way you decide to work your path. After that, I think you need to keep playing the same direction so you can see if you get three colors in a row. But that's just my take on it as it doesn't specifically say anything in the rules that I could see.
@shenmue19809 жыл бұрын
Solo McLaughlin 24:57 Is it that legal? I think you should have shuffled the deck instead of discarting it because you had 5 cards in your hand and one door in limbo, maybe I'm wrong.
