This would be a nice upgrade to my current tx-nr 797 with the 2 extra channels and pre outputs. My current says 220 watts per channel but in the manual it shows 100watts with all channels driven that is good since I can bi-amp my floor speakers. I heard Onkyo was in trouble with COVID decline in sales and also heard they lost the last shipment in a ship wreck. Also heard they are coming back with help from another manufacturer financing.

Hi, according to the datasheet for this model, the power is 200 W/Ch (6 Ω, 1 kHz, 1% THD, 1 Channel Driven, IEC). Please be aware that this means it is capable of delivering up to 200 Watts per channel (6 Ohms) - but not at the same time. This is no issue at all, as usually, you have different signals with different power requirements per channel - but not the very same signal at the same time on all channels...

I'll add this to the shopping list. I have a question maybe you could answer. I own a yamaha aventage rx-a2030 it's outdated but could I use this as a preamp to the new AVR's I'm shopping above? I'm only asking because it's a good AVR and don't really want to sell it for peanuts but it's still powerful enough to drive surround speakers. good review a well detailed thanks for sharing

Hi and thanks for getting in touch. You can use your "old" amp to drive stereo speakers in a separate room - using the Zone 2 / Zone 3 line-outs. Or you can switch to pre out mode, with the TX-RZ3100 being used as pre amp (for all channels - you cannot select surround channels for pre out only).

Can you please help me. I've recently bought the tx rz730 but had to upgrade it to the rz830 because the amps lcd screen doesn't show what audio encode it's playing but instead displays the current input also the amp has issue's with my Sony blu Ray player as I get picture but no sound. I tried different hmdi leads and different inputs on the amp and still no joy. I also connected the Sony player directly to the TV and that works fine. I just had delivery of the rz830 and unfortunately it's still the same issues. Any idea how to resolve theses two issues? Thanks
@OnkyoEU6 жыл бұрын
Hi There, it's an easy fix, all you have to do is press the display button on the remote control, the information that will be displayed ( on screen & on the display of the unit ) is all of the incoming and outgoing audio information , then press it again ( quickly) and you will be given all of the video information( in & out). After a few seconds this info will disappear so it does not interfere with your watching/listening. Hope this helps & Merry Christmas

@@OnkyoEUthank you for the quick reply but that's not I wanted to know. If I press the info button and not the display button (there's no such button) I do get the audio info on the lcd and TV screen but after a few seconds it goes back. To the input info. How can I have both bits of information always on in the lcd section of the amp (audio coding and input info). Ive had onkyo's all my life and it seems this may be the end of an era if I can't resolve this. Thanks

Hello, if you have HDMI Arc enabled. Try to turn it off. I have Rz830 but i heard ther is some issues with HDMI Arc. So i dont use it. Also ther is a huge heating issue with RZ830 where u can ruin ur HDMI ports. Cause it heats up and warm air goes up directly into the HDMI board. So its very important it is in a open place. So it dont get closed in.

@@zakariyaalom3429 Hi, you can use the info button to switch between audio and video details - but after a short while, the AVR will auomatically go back to default display. There is no way to further influence this behaviour.

@@zakariyaalom3429 With regards to the Sony BD Player issue, it should work right from the beginning with a standard HDMI cable. If you already tried different HDMI cables and different HDMI inputs on the AV receiver, is there anyway to reset the Sony BD player to factory settings, just in case?

The equipment I was asking about are onkyo. Onkyo EQ 540 and Onkyo M504 amplifiers. Is the rz3100 the top of the line? How does it stack up to the rz920?
@OnkyoEU5 жыл бұрын
@@Rotorzilla Hi and wow - these are some very old and decent models - great to see them still in use :-) You could connect the EQ 540 to the TX-RZ3100 for stereo listening (e.g. by using Zone 2 out), and you could also use the M504 amplififers, e.g. for a surround setup or for additional Dolby Atmos height channels by using the multichannel pre-outs. But please contact our customer care team to discuss your options/what you whant to achieve and how this could be realized (also discussing possible limitations). We're sorry, the TX-RZ920 is not available here (EU) - but the TX-RZ3100 is indeed the top of the line integrated AV receiver. Thank you!

@@Rotorzilla DON"T use the EQ units! the 310 has auto calibration built in & you can go into the menu system and set 3 different prest EQ patterns for all of the channels. The digital EQ inside of the 3100 is far better than the 540 EQ ( it was good in its time,but things have moved on a lot). If you have a M504, you can use it on the main left & right and then see if it sounds .....different to the internal amps ( you will have a preference to one or the other) but I think its a bit to good for effects channels ( unless you have enough to do all 11channels !)

@OnkyoEU6 жыл бұрын
Hi, the component video inputs are available to allow "legacy" devices to be connected (if still available), but today's standard connectors for input/output in the home AV sector are HDMI. So HDMI is the main input/output connector for this device.

For 3,000+ dollars, this amp should be able to deliever 140w rms all channels driven at 6ohms from 20hz to 20khz, not just in stereo, not this 200w 1khz stuff that means nothing... come on onkyo, a 350w power consumption rating is bogus. this amp should draw at least 1,820 from the wall...
@RuiSilvaPT6 жыл бұрын
Not Digital amplification. Class D amp yes, but it's not digital, if they were there would be no need for Digital to Analog Converters (DACs)! This video should have been made when RZ1100/3100 came out, not 2 years later. That just scream bad marketing...

Why?
@chris53756 жыл бұрын
I agree
@Turtleback80244 жыл бұрын
Rui Pedro Silva Digital to Analogue would be indicative of a digital signal. Thus making the AVR digital, hence the need for the conversion (DAC). Unless of cause the signal was analogue, then your analysis would make sense, that there would be no need for DAC’s. However, it seems like you got it backwards. For why would a non-digital (analogue) signal need a “digital” to analogue conversion? Does that even make sense?
@RuiSilvaPT4 жыл бұрын
@@Turtleback8024 I don't think I've got it backwards, even Denon or Marantz that use AB amps need a DAC, as almost all inputs are from a digital form. Only inputs that are analog don't require DAC (Phono, Line-in, etc. (RCA connections - coax cables are a different kind)). The premiss here is that class D amps aren't digital at all they use PWM and are very efficient, and people have a misconception about them. Hypex is an excellent example of good to excellent class D amplification. Regarding the marketing, although the RZ line is excellent (don't own one yet, still going on a TX-SR705 with no issues whatsoever, apart from old age (tech) issues!) Onkyo doesn't perform a strong/agressive marketing such as Sound United does and that as been pushing Denon and Marantz forward while Onkyo/Integra/Pioneer struggle to keep up with the marketing push technique from other brands. I almost can't find Home Theater owners or reviewers talking about the top of the line RZ3100/1100 or even the new 3400 while social media is filled with Sound United AVRs, social media is a real strong tool. This is only my opinion.
