Watching this whole then the meaning of LILAC becomes even clearer. IU started her career trying to do what the others were doing as trendy at that time (and even now). Although she did really well, as we can see here, she also said that she struggled to find herself and be acknowledged for the first 2-3 years. That period is the first two sections in the LILAC video. And we could see how much brighter IU's been shining with her unique music taste afterwards when she actually set her own path and trends. IU cannot follow trends because she's busy creating her own trends. It doesn't matter if most Kpop fans like dancing catchy music, they are just drawn in to listen to singer IU singing. It doesn't matter if people admire strong belting vocalists, they are also drawn in to listen to singer IU with her softness and story-telling singing style, yet hitting high notes like a joke. IU and MAMAMOO are the two that have broken my stereotype about "Kpop" and brought me to exploring the Korean music industry to find it much more beyond Kpop. FYI, the compilation for MAMAMOO will be aired on 15 October :)

Totally agree. With her popularity, she contributes to the connection between traditional and modern Korean music and eventually the futuristic . , which were rooted from Korean . Compared with most westernized kpop singers or groups, I can feel the real beauty and unique Korean muse only from IU’s songs. I came here after watching The Golden Hour at the cinema. It has been a... long Journey with IU. I remember I was in my last highschool year, watching a music show stream (illegally as everything back then 😂) and just saw this kid even younger than me singing with such a strong voice and emotions. It was MIA/Lost Child. Long story short, I've been an Uaena since that moment on, and I'm so lucky that I watched that stage that day. I've had depression, anxiety and a couple more mental health issues because of... bad stuff, since I was 6, and when I'm at my lowest she's still one of my go-to artists to listen to calm myself down. My sea hits me extremely hard, even today I can't listen to it without crying. She's been through so much, and she keeps thriving while I'm here stranded and in a dangerous place, but there's a 1% hope of things getting better if I keep fighting. Maybe one day I'll have my own my sea. Ps: of course I cried the whole concert, only pauses were the ments 😂

I accidentally watch it on tv kbs also cable days😂 I won't forget that night i was so down there's a lot in my mind back then so many questions that I can't answer. while my mind is on the cloud I hear a song on tv and that's MIA I don't know but I suddenly stop and listen and I was amazed by the child (IU) on TV I was like wow it's so high this kid nailed it this kid will make it on top. Then the next day I search for the song and the English translation it was so amazing and we'll written.
