I'm a 60+ woman, who's been in this minefield for years...what's with the guys who pose wearing sunglasses, in front of a fancy car, motorcycle, yacht, or with no shirt, slouching, balding , with a bulging stomach who are seeking attractive looking women 20 years younger, who know how to cook... I have even seen photos of men with their arm around another woman or wearing wedding rings. Hey don't knock "Our Time". I'm 79 and at 60 I walked the Portland Marathon. I'm walking 3 miles a day so far right now so I can walk a half marathon when I'm 80 as my late husband walked 13 miles (half-marathon) when he was 80. I do 40 squats a day, 50 standing push-ups & working up to a hundred chair sit-ups day. I believe in getting better as you get older. At least I hope I'm a lot wiser than I was when I was younger. I wish I had better advice for guys, but I just don't. The best I have is become the person YOU would want to date. Become valuable (God loves you, and your soul has value as a human being, but as NapoleonDynamite says, girls like guys with great skills). I ran a half marathon, started performing music, listening to Jordan Peterson and prayed for very specific things. I made a long list of questions the person had to answer before I would have real conversations. Found several great guys and married the man of my dreams in 9 months. Good luck and God bless.

@Heather Smith I grew up without a TV, or video games. Or even a family desktop computer until I was 9 or 10. (Y2K) My friends called me and my family Amish. It was challenging to make friends and almost impossible to keep them long term. My Mother actually grew up in Lancaster Co PA. All her neighbors were Amish. My Father is from Ohio/Indiana border. Many Amish folk there as well. I once saw a pretty Amish girl in a store and smiled a subtle, kind smile, mostly just lit up the eyes and made eye contact. She beamed a smile right back and then immediately wiped it from her face, looked at the floor and left the building right quickly. Sad. I don't think very highly of their cult. They reject Reason absolutely and also anything that is known to be an invention of man through reason or science. They instill an ideology on their children that life must be miserable and there can be no happiness. Even (or especially) if its a moment of mutual delight between a young, 20-something man and women. Disturbing. Evil. I dare say.

The "daddy-daughter date" comments are no joke. I got tired of being asked how many kids menus we needed and getting funny looks from the hosts when my husband would answer just 1. I'm a 5'2 hobbit, my hubbs is 6'4 and now my son is 6'1, so if we go out just us they think WE'RE on a date. Um, not that kind of date... If I joke that he's paying, they think I'm serious and give him the bill. I don't even look that young, ppl just see my height and go - child. Life is weird for a short girl.

Just offer a mint or gum - then you'll find out how mature s/he is & how well raised! Lol By my late teens, I learned to *always* accept a piece of gum or mint if it's offered as it could be a polite way of someone hinting at bad breath. I've also learned through the years that many single men get bad breath because of not eating regular meals; breath is a blood sugar indicator.

It's weird how many comedians seem unprepared for Dry Bar and don't seem to believe how conservative the crowd is. They must know, right? You can hear awkward silences because the crowd just doesn't connect. You gotta know your audience and play into them. You can still "be yourself" but you're only half the show and the audience is the other half.
