This is percentage of TOTAL PLAYTIME across all games, not a percentage of accounts that played a new release. That means that across all games on steam, 15% of total play time was spent in games released in 2024. Considering most people play Dota and CSGO on steam, 15% is pretty high.

Thank you for pointing that out. I usually record my videos late after midnight. I got the interpretation wrong. I reread the steam text again and you are correct. I change the title to better reflect that. My data in the video is still accurate, People in mass are still playing older games more than the new ones. I try my best to report accurate information and can admit when I am wrong. Thank you again.

@@SomeSimpleNumbers Yup nothing you said in the video is wrong, the title was off so nice change. The way Valve worded that stat makes it easy to misunderstand.

Cause game companies keep releasing slop for the "modern audience."

This is certainly true with the past few releases from Western Triple A Companies. Suicide Squad Kill The Justice League, Concord, and Star Wars Outlaws. Dragon Age The Veilguard has also been quiet on their sales numbers. Thankfully there are still a lot of good games out there especially AA and indies that I am currently playing and enjoying.

It's basically the same every year, why is this news

It is a current event. It is relevant information for steam year in review and I find numbers interesting. Also I wanted to talk about it. You may not find it to be news worthy and that is fine. The beauty of KZbin is you can make a video and talk about what you want. Thank you for your comment.
