It's Howard Hawks' classic movie about pilots in South America. Jean Arthur and Cary Grant star as Americans, one a tourist and one an ex-pat, who witness the trials and risks of airline pilots delivering goods in hostile conditions. The movie has a smoky, snarky, romantic atmosphere reminiscent of Casablanca, and it was probably an inspiration for a great number of pilot and danger movies, including "Wages of Fear."

this movie is perfect. One of my favorites of all time. I love how Hawks can develop a lot of characters in a movie with less than 2 hours. The story is brilliant and i love all the characters

THe nostalgic good-old-crew, those-days-are-long-gone atmosphere is unbeatable. I like this movie much more than Casablanca. No dis to Casablanca, personal taste.

It's got a great first 30 minutes but then it loses me. I dunno. The who's joe scene is spellbinding. Just never got around to liking cary grant in this. His girl friday and red river are my favourite hawks so far I think

I was just on transatlantic flights on which there was a "classics" section with a couple dozen of these films, such as "The Desk Set."

I just wish that huge library was available on a routine basis. Possibly TCM, dunno, but not available in Europe. BTW, I forgot to say "Thanks for the post.". Thanks for the post, nice one.

you're welcome. I recommend the only way to do this: build your own library. Don't want the centralized tech companies owning and curating what's streaming.
