Nice video, it's useful this information! I'm currently passing my note-taking system from Notion to Obsidian. I felt in love with the links! I hope this new concepts helps me understand better my notes and not end up forgeting all those notes we take in School. Have a great day!

Great video, stumbled upon you a few days ago while researching about PKM. The thought of a PKM system was exciting and thanks to you and a few other creators, I have my Ideaverse built!

YAY! First ideaverse, that's so exciting. I would love to see your ideaverse for myself if you were willing. Email me at aidanhelfanthello@gmail.com and we can set up a short call sometime.

In the beginning of the video you talk about how you used to just go straight to games and how much joy they gave you. I relate with that so much. I'm currently in my second semester of college studying Software Development. I have a deep passion for game development. Every aspect of it I find so interesting but when I go to learn and take notes I immediately get discouraged and frustrated. I ask myself all the time; am I even writing down the right things? Am I structuring this properly? Should I highlight or add pictures? How do I study this to remember it? It fills me with anxiety and completely overwhelms me so I push it off and go back to games. I repeat this over and over and feel guilty about it all the time. I have such a bad GPA and can't even learn the stuff I'm passionate about like game development. I'm going to give this system a try and hope that it finally helps me. Do you have any advice for me? Thank you for this video.

Thanks for being so intimate and sharing. I resonate a ton with what you are going through. The fact that you are even thinking about your systems puts you in the top 99% of students. Here's my advice: - Mindsets matter more than tools. It sounds like one of the frustrating things about notetaking for you is you don't know the right mindsets or methods to bring. I recommend you read my article Almost Every Beginner Obsidian User Makes This Mistake: www.aidanhelfant.com/the-notetaking-mindsets-of-the-new-era-student/ - Don't be too hard on yourself. Learning to take better notes and study takes time. But it's an investment in your future. - Watch my beginner Obsidian student playlist. You can find it on the homepage of my channel. If you have questions email me at aidanhelfanthello@gmail.com. I'm here to help 🥰

I am into learning science from many time, i tried so many methods that i can't even remember, and lately i took the full course of Justin Sung about studying (in case you know it). His method is pretty different from zettelkasten or other obsidian-related methods, but many fundamental principles are given the same importance (like connecting, contrasting concepts etc.). Now my interest in obsidian has returned but i always find that every method that uses obsidian has the same issue with one thing: sources with high density of important informations. I understand it may be a good method for capturing and developing some ideas you find scattered in different books/videos/articles, or with popular contemporary books that may have 4-5 interesting ideas and the rest is just anecdotes to fill the pages, but how do you do when you have to study from a source that is full of important informations like a textbook or an academic paper?
@aidanhelfant Жыл бұрын
Great question! It all depends on the source. For something like a textbook I take notes using QAE. This is a type of notetaking where you create a question, have a highlight or your own words as the answer, with evidence backing it up like a study or number from the textbook. This way your notes become valuable sources to study off of. Even though you might take more notes from a textbook, I still recommend you follow the Pareto Principle. 20% of the information in the textbook will account for 80% of what you need to know on the text. Don't study everything. Study the most important things.
