I heard that Indian restaurants do that on purpose if you are not Indian they will still give you a medium spice level but make you think that it was the super spicy. I guess they've had a lot of us say we want it super hot and then try to return it when it is super hot

Yup. My husband and I asked for a level 10/10 it was maybe a 5 we asked for the powder they use to make it spicy. The lady was shocked when she came to clear plates and my husband and I used a couple table spoons. They listened to us after that because it’s a small place so they remember customers easier.

It's so interesting how different types of spice food can effect you. I can't really enjoy Indian dishes because there's just so much going on spice wise and if it's spicy then I'll just get the hickups in addition to a runny nose. Now Thai food on the other hand I can eat so much easier, still get a runny nose, but nothing much else. Korean spicy food makes the mouth and lips burn in addition to the runny nose. With Sichuan type of spice, that's actually the easiest to handle for me, since the mouth goes numb.
