Trigger's Broom is actually an instance of an ancient philosophical question originally known as the "Ship of Theseus". The Wikipedia entry for this specifically mentions Trigger's Broom. Humans arguably are an example of this - over years and decades almost all our cells are replaced, yet we still consider ourselves as the same person.

John sullivan is such a genius, it applies to almost all the episodes, but the amount of clever setup that is so well disguised for eventual payoffs. The answer machine not working doesnt feel like a setup because it was relevant with raquels parents but then its pivotal for when they show up to the party. The same thing with the constant hit of rodneys misspelt bracelet for the final one to be the paper getting it wrong. There are always so many thought out threads that tie together in every episode. Its a real pleasure rewatching and seeing you enjoy them josh, looking forward to the next two!

If you think about it, Trigger did save the council money. His broom broke 31 times and each time he could have put in for a whole new one, but instead he replaced the damaged part. As a result he went through 17 brooms (or 15.5 depending how you look at it) instead of 31.
