I felt uncomfortable when Cheum was talking amongst the group on how Boston is a slut and Ray being the only single friend. She definitely was being messy no matter how drunk she was. So I can see why Ray came for her and April. It was kind of messed up but entertaining to watch lol.

I believe some reasons for Ray's actions were him being high and drunk, seeing all these "friends" pretending, Chueam once again praising Top like that(why?) and how Ray is the only one without lover, no reaction from Mew.. And all that was too much. Then when he ran off, Sand decides to confess right then right there, when Sand has always said the opposite of what he actually means. I would explode too tbh, even though it's not right. Sorry my bad english tho.

I don't think I have heard anyone say this yet, but I actually think Ray has fallen for Sand a long time ago. Sure, he still has feeling for Mew and they won't just disappear anytime soon, but he's also caught feelings for Sand and it seems like he wants to pursue that relationship. But every time he asks Sand a question like: "do you like me?" "are you mad I like Mew?" "what are we?", Sand denies having any feelings for him. I think if Sand actually talked to him about his feelings, they could work out very easily. But they're both sabotaging themselves by not saying anything because they're scared the other will reject them. Anyways my point is that I don't think Ray is stringing sand along at all, I think he genuinely likes him and wants more but he's just not sure Sand feels the same way. Also, he might genuinely believe him that Sand is just around him because of the money (even though that's obviously not the case) since he keeps making comments about paying him. Maybe Ray's just very insecure and doesn't believe anyone would actually care about him.

I agree with so much of what you are saying! Not sure I can confidently say that Ray knows about the feelings he is developing for Sand, but he is definitely not just a casual hook up for him. And yes, Sand has denied him so much! In episode 5 people where feeling sorry for Sand, when Ray said they are "only friends". Nobody was mentioning that only 2 episodes ago Sand literally said "I will never have you as my boyfriend".

Even though he denies it, he wants that love given to him with no strings attached. He just can't seem to let Nick walk away from him. Who will unconditionally be in his corner. I think if Nick is out of his life, however it happens, Boston will crumble.

Sand played Nick and also Ray. He “schemed” to get the recording and also revealed the origins of the tape to Ray. Beyond that he manipulated Ray (I mean come on here’s this recording and btw “Mew’s lucky to have you”) just to get back at Top being an AH to him. He knew about this recording for a while and he decided to reveal it because Top hurt his ego.. Edit: I still appreciate the drama, and absolutely adore Sand!

I love your reactions to only friends SOOOO much. Your reactions are the ones i look forward to the most every week. The long discussions and analysis is just great. And the best part is actually that all of you don't agree about everything. You have different faves and different predictions and ways in which you want the show to go, and i love that. i think one of the reasons ray blew up is also because, if you notice, he was kinda ignored by his friends for the whole episode. even when cheum was talking about how they all had partners now, she just kinda forgot about ray? and not just that, but cheum was painting this really happy picture of what their friend group and love lives were like in that moment and ray was just really done with that, i think, knowing what he knows. and he just wanted to drive home that nothing is as great as anyone wants to make it out to be. not justifying his actions, but that's my theory of why he did what he did and the way he did it.

I've been rewatching the episodes with my wife the past couple of days and I noticed so much more, that the friend group isn't really that close. Especially when it comes to Ray, they are never there to make sure he is ok or needs anything after the first scene of the first episode. On one hand I get that he is an adult, who should take care of himself and not other's responsibility. On the other, I wonder how I would have acted, if I chose to stay friends with someone with addiction issues. Could I really leave the bar without making sure, that my friend has a safe way of getting home? It's a nuanced subject.

Mew has two moms and describes a loving and secure family unit. I love that! This gives a new dimension to Mew because he is grew up as a part of the LGBTQ community. When you grow up in the 🏳️‍🌈 community, you grow up with a different kind of awareness. Mew may have been a virgin but he isn’t naive! Why do I think that? Mew pulled off knowing what the audio held from the scene in the bathroom at the club. I think he needed time to process the recording and he didn’t want Ray to spill the tea. He wanted to handle it on his own! He had enough cognitive ability to bide his time and waiting for epic reveal! He revealed it in Aces. He also nailed it Spades ♠️ at the end with his dialogue. Every word was believable and felt real. I truly feel Mew likes/loves Top. I think he was very honest in Ep 5 when he said he would sleep with him because he was afraid that Top would get bored with him. I thought a lot about this since last week. Why did Mew call Boston and tell him about having going to sex with Top? What would have motivated him to have done that at first I thought it was the only friend he thought he could discuss this with. However, I think he was a little bit more savvy. He definitely wanted to put a STAKE 🪧 that Top was his choice. I think he might’ve actually did that subconsciously, but there’s no doubt in my mind that Mew’s character has already decided Top was who he wanted. Mew knew the stakes 🪧 were high and he is trying to control his own destiny. I don’t think that Mew was trying to be overly manipulative, I believe he just wanted his first time to be special and with somebody that he cared about. I especially liked how his character apologized to Top for being hard to get. He was simply being honest that he wanted to it to be and feel special. I really don’t want to see Mew go down the rabbit hole of villainess! I am totally down for Mew kicking Boston into the pool. I also want to see him make Top work his way back to redemption. We shall see…

Maybe cox both series has the same Director & writers but the only difference is that only friends is based still in University and mainly BL series but Friend zone has all BL, GL and straight couples.

I just found out Mew, Top, Boston and Nick were based on a real group of friends... the show was supposed to be a bit different till one of the writers reminisced about stuff in their university life. From there they expanded and added new characters like Sand and Ray and some extra drama to get this show. Apparently the relationship between the 4 was much more complex than this. Btw, they were Nick IRL

Mew didn't do the Lasik bc of Top. Top just suggested it bc of the broken glasses and Mew said he already wanted to but was afraid that it would hurt. Top only reassured him it would be ok and introduced him to a good doctor but from the very beginning Top liked Mew with glasses and wasn't trying to change him in any way, he respects his boundaries and takes good care of him... I think the Lasik is more used as a symbol of Mew's awakening : he's now able to see his friends and Top's true colors Mew is the one who asked Top to change but not in a bad way and bc Mew is asking Top to change he also thinks he needs to take Top's needs into consideration: Top had regular sex and needs someone to sleep with, a physical connection... in Mew's mind 3 months of waiting are probably nothing since as he explained he grew up in a very loving environment he doesn't particularly crave for physical intimacy over emotional connection and trust building, but he knows that 3 months without sex is a huge effort for Top so he gave in to 'reward' his efforts and he went at it bit by bit quite carefully, also he was truly insecure bc Top is surrounded by temptation... But Top actually tried...yes Top did Ton but it wasn't really bc he was sex deprived imo, it was bc sex is what he uses to fill the void of his loneliness and insecurities (and drugs when sex isn't enough) I like that he didn't even try to justify himself and tell that Boston push him into it bc he knows he was wrong and hurt Mew Boston successfully managed to create the opportunity to be there when Top would be weak, he's so good at poking at people's weaknesses like with Ray or Nick Top's cockiness is just a defense mechanism, a bad habit similar to Boston's reaction when Ray confronted him (he was really scared and then switched to his cocky self) About Sand I keep saying it but a person can't be stolen it's not an object, I'm sure Sand is putting the blame on Top when his ex is the one who cheated on him.... Top is just annoyed that Sand keeps clinging on that story but he always tries to stay civil, Sand is always the one who starts a fight whenever Top shows up bc of his own perception of what happened so I'm waiting for the ex to show up to get the whole truth about this but it feels too easy to blame everything on Top During the blind diner date Top didn't pay attention to the other guys so Mew really meant it when he said "I believe that you only have eyes for me now" bc he was very observant Top said that him doing drugs wasn't a regular thing and Mew could actually believe him bc when they met with Beam in the Silent Disco Beam said Top doesn't respond to his texts and doesn't hang out with him since he's with Mew so Top was really trying to sever ties with his past behaviors and partners...and actually he called Beam to his house that one time bc he felt guilty/bad about the cheating and wanted to take his mind out of it so I guess he uses drugs when nothing else works he's not addicted (yet)

I think maybe Ray called out our lesbians bc he seen the conversation needed to happen bc Cheum wasn't necessarily the happiest she could've been in her relationship and he wanted to sort of push them to have that conversation so they could resolve it and be happier as a result. I think he may have also been aware at least somewhat of April's point of view of "fake compliments" and all that bc if Cheum and April have been together for a few years he's probably known April just as long and at that point even if it's not shown since she's not a "main" friend or shown often at all, i feel like he's more than likely friends with her too on some level so him maybe kinda wanting to push them to talk about it and get everything out in the open about how they both feel regarding April's work was so they were both happier. That's not to say April was feeling any unhappiness or tension bc she probably didn't have any idea about how Cheum felt and there's nothing wrong with venting to your friends, which is all Cheum did, but maybeeeee he did it out of like a good thought, bc lying to your lover even if it is to try and support something they love and you have no understanding about gets tiring and your're always worried about if they'll be upset if they find out you're not into it and are just saying that, which we found out April was, like maybe he kind of had the thought of "since im about to putting literally everyone on blast i'll go ahead and push these two to talk about their mini elephant in the room" rather than Ray just being drunk and bitter and going off on everyone. I'm also not saying he should've put them on blast either bc like y'all said they didn't do anything other than kinda be in his line of sight when shit hit the fan. edit: maybe the whole reason for Ray actually blowing up was bc he told Mew, he seen Mew looked upset but he still wasn't doing anything about it and he maybe thought Mew didn't believe him and it pissed him off and on top of all the alcohol and how drunk he was i think that just added to the fire broiling inside him and seeing everyone be happy, and the one he still has feelings for NOT being happy but not taking action he decided he would but by the time he got to the end of the list and was about to out Top and Ton, Mew stepped in and then he looked around, maybe realized what he did was wrong and said fuck it and left.

I have a feeling that nick’s recording was probably just the actual sex. Like he probably cropped it. Not sure why, but kinda seems like something Nick would do, maybe obsessing over that part of it only. He didn’t know Mew or Ray really at the time, still doesn’t really, so he probably didn’t care. He just cared about the sex part of it. I really hope we get some insight to Nick’s obsession with Boston soon, I wanna know his original intentions for bugging the car. Cause he bugged it before the party when he thought HE was the one going home with Boston, so he didn’t even intentionally record Boston and Top having sex. Also, if it was cropped, Nick is the only one who knows that. He didn’t tell Sand about the conversation and him and Boston are the only ones who don’t know that everyone else has it now. Maybe once Nick finds out, he’ll be able to tell the whole story?? Not sure. There is also the possibility that Nick was recording as he was listening, rather than everything being recorded. He may have only heard (therefore recorded) once the sex had started already.

I think it's just for dramatic effect. It's not as entertaining to play the talking bits. I feel like Nick would keep a copy with the conversation beforehand. otherwise, the recording is no good. If you don't know who's there and talking, it could've been anyone having sex.

Someone said Mew is gonna be in his Lemonade era now, and all I can see is Mew walking down the street in a yellow dress with a baseball bat and I live! "...Hold up, they don't love you like I love you Slow down, they don't love you like I love you... Can't you see there's no other man above you? What a wicked way to treat the girl that loves you... I want both Boston and Top to hit complete rock bottom before ANY redemption arc. The thing about Boston for me, is unless they show some backstory that shows him in a different light...he's always been exactly the type of person he is now...I wonder even how any of them became friends anyway. Top for my money came in with bad intentions and his falling for Mew, for me, doesn't make him any better than Boston. So for me...rock bottom them both! TBH Everyone in the show is a red flag, Heck I love Sand, but the way he used Ray and the recording of Top and Mew to get back at Top, was hella manipulative. Ok, I'm very confused. Why does everybody keep saying, that it's impossible to recognise people by their moans? It's LITERALLY their voice. They are just making an "uh" sound. And it's not only one moan for a second or so, it's a whole recording. Yes it takes a bit to recognise, like Ray did, but especially people who are close to you and you are familiar with their voice you should be able to recognise easily. Does anybody get what I'm trying to say or am I the only one?

My only issue with this episode is a logistics one. Since we know that Ray gave Mew the recording, BEFORE Ray's meltdown in front of everyone, why did Ray still meltdown? Was it simply caused by being drunk and so in his head and feelings (frustration because Mew didn't really react immediately about the video) that he just blew up? Or, was it all a calculated plan between Mew and Ray? That's what I am feeling. It just doesn't make sense otherwise. Maybe Mew hatched a plan to make Top feel like he won, that he beat Ray and has Mew all to himself, so that when he revealed what he knew it would hurt more? I dunno. But this show is giving!

Gotta do a bit of stretching but I think the end result was worth it! I just assume Ray got super drunk and it helped make the episode more dramatic and tense.

we know Ray gave Mew the recording before he had the meltdown but we don't know when Mew listened to the recording. It could have been after. TBH i think the meltdown wasn't about Mew but about himself, feeling lost in love surrounded "by love" as he says at the beginning despite believing it all to be corrupt. He was also put in a shitty situation. Yes telling Mew was the right thing but it was also a not nice situation for him to be put in (thanks for that Sand). So i think that combining having to hurt his "loves" relationship, the alcohol, the shitty drama everyone around him is in he kinda just broke.

I think he was probably upset in general about everything and then got more upset when Mew didn’t do anything after he told him. He’s probably thinking that mew is just going to let it go instead of confronting Top about it.

Top saying he changed and loving Mew so much while even after Ray blew up, they come back home and still acted normal like he is a saint, Glad my red flag Ray told Mew about it😂😂. The way I see it Ray caused a scene because he gave Mew the recording and then watched nothing come out of it. All of his friends constantly make digs at him etc while he had all that dirt on everyone that he was keeping to himself. Mew basically allows Top to cheat on him in Ray's eyes at that moment so that's probably the last straw, right? Like he would never do that to Mew so why is he still choosing Top and not him kinda thing. On top of Sand pushing him away and telling him he doesn't care about his personal business yet again. The last point is questionable but I'm sure that would hurt him somewhere deep under all the Mew drama. And alcohol of course.

So there are 6 episodes to go. Next episode should be the fall out from the Ton and Top fiasco focusing on I think Mew and Nick. I think it’s also going to be the start of the Top redemption arc. I don’t know if we will see a Boston redemption arc or not, he may be irredeemable at this point. I do wonder what they are going to do with Boston if he can’t redeem himself and everyone knows what a shit person he is, where do they go with this character🤔

Not Sand screwing over Nick and throwing him under the bus to get the tape and then manipulating and guilt tripping Ray into releasing it just to get his revenge over Top... I knew I would be dissapointed in Sand at some point, because it didn't make sense to me if they gave us 5 flawd characters and 1 saint. But please Sand, I really need you to be better than this! 🙏 The lesbian came for the win in this episode! First we're told that Mew is brought up in a loving home, with two moms, who gave him so much love that he never felt deprived or in the need of external validation from a lover/partner. And then we have our lesbian girl friends basically solving their issues right away through open commnunication! Allright I see you, green flag lesbians, showing us all how to do it right! 👩‍❤‍👩 I am probably gonna die on the hill of "defending" Top 🙈 I know this episode was all about the build up to finally expose Top, and still what I took away was a complete vindication for believing him. We all know he did wrong sleeping with Boston, so we all knew that blast was coming at some point, but for me the real test was whether or not he was genuine in his pursue of Mew. Because the way he was introduced made everyone think he was just in it for the hunt of the virgin, and that he would dump Mew as soon as he gave it up. But he didn't. And I didn't think he would. I belived he was sincere about wanting to change, that he was pursuing Mew for the right reason, to build a real relationship. But you don't change who you are or how you've been that quick. Making a life style change is easier said than done, so he "slipped up" with Boston and fell back to his pridefull cocky attitude with Sand at the hospital, but it doesn't take away from the fact that he was being honest and genuin with Mew, he wasn't lying about his intentions or trying to manipulate him in order to get his cake. So I think I survied on the hill for another week. But let's see what next week brings us? 😆 And Mew played the exposing perfectly. So satisfying. At first I was like why is he being so aggresive, holding Top down like that, this seems out of character. But the second he mentioned he liked Top's moaning sounds, I knew it was about to get lit. Actually if you look back in hindsight, you can already tell that Mew is upset after the bathroom break, even before Ray begins his rant, he is looking furious. 😡 Also, am I the only one who thinks that if Sand hadn't stopped Ray's rant at Nick, he would have continued it with: "Have you done it with him in his dark room? You're not the first.... I DID IT TOO" 🤔 🤯

Good point, as per the trailer, there was a scene where Ray screamed at Sand telling him that his life would not be better with Sand, Then Sand smashed the plum wine jar. We have not seen that scene yet, so chances are that Ray would break it with Sand to be with Mew later..... But the next EP will be Nick's turn to shed tear.....the singlet that Boston wears in the next episode's preview when confronted by Top, is the same singlet that he wears in the trailer when he pushes Nick down to the floor....

How does Mew have poor judgement? People make mistakes, it happens to the best of us. Besides Mew managed to stay "pure" until 22, as opposed to his entourage and probably most of you, who just sleep around or go from heartbreak to heartbreak. Top isn't the best person, he's too prideful and arrogant, but he clearly adores Mew and tried so hard to become a better man for him, but we know how he was hunted down and sadly he gave up to his weakness. Horrible mistake. Maybe they should not end up together but we can't deny that Top loves Mew and Mew isn't naïve nor does he have poor judgement. He does not make any decision without thinking it through, even this breakup as we saw.
