I wonder if Tobert is the killer? "What a great documentary that would make" - didn't he say something like that. Besides Jonathan, he is the only person I could think of that would benefit from Ben's death before Ben could get a performance in. And he is always deceiving Mabel. Lying to her, then saying he lied to her. Luring her to the Jazz bar, then confessing he lured her. I think some folks might call that "grooming".

He is a mysterious guy, so I wouldn't be surprised if he turned out to be the killer. But I don't see why he would have a reason to kill Ben, since he was working for him.

There were also a lot of pictures. I think she was trying to keep tabs on Dickie and Ben, and the only way she could do that was to look at newspapers or magazines.

Or like the elephant , did dickie get pushed down the elevator chute but saved by his mother who pushed Ben and pulled dickie up

I didn't really think the elephant story would be related to anyone other than Tobert. But you may be right. It might be about someone else.
