I only caught a bit of the Jingle Parade by chance, since as you said, it wasn't an official event or anything. Still, I'm glad to have done so, it was really fun to watch! Lol this is what I do for Texas cons and sleep in my car at rest stops. I wouldn't recommend doing this though. Not the safest and I'm unbelievably tired when I go to work lol
