Read a little bit about A=432Hz. Never heard of it before now. Sounds fascinating. I like that it follows multiples of 8, which fits in nicely with my I.T. background, and it isn't far from A440. I'm going to tune my harp to that and give it a try. Thanks 🙂

Thank you for your comment. 432hz just feels right in my body, and I've had many people comment that 432hz music goes right to their heart, whereas 440hz doesn't touch them the same way. That's why 432hz great especially for therapy/healing music. When you tune down, it will sound weird and flat because your ears are used to 440hz. But let the strings settle for a week or so and it will begin to grow on you. Good luck!

@TracieLin Жыл бұрын
Thank you! If your Sonnet has A to A range like mine, then for the most part it will work except for a few notes at the end. You can just leave out the notes out of range or play an octave higher. But if it’s C-C, then you won’t be able to play much of it.

Hi Tracie, I love your arrangement of Only Time. I purchased the sheet music of your arrangement using the link you’ve provided. It is 2 pages. The 1st page is accurate, for the harp being tuned with the a, b, and e strings flat. This page covers about the first half of the song you play in this video. But the 2nd page is entirely different, with no flats, and since you don’t change any of the levers in the middle of the song I believe there is a mistake. Is there sheet music that includes the entire song? I can mostly figure out what you play in the second half by listening because it’s mostly a repetition of the first half, but it still would be easier for me to learn and to remember in the future by having it all on sheet music. Thank you!
@TracieLin9 ай бұрын
Hello, thank you for your support in learning this song. There should be a total of 4 pages plus the cover. There are 2 pages for Eb key and 2 pages for C key. It sounds like you only got the first and the last page of the music. I'm not sure if there was a glitch when you downloaded it. I went ahead and re-loaded the PDF onto the portal just to make sure it's loaded correctly. Meanwhile, please send me an email at harpingfromtheheart@gmail.com and I will email you the full copy. Thank you and enjoy the song!

Your playing is better than one of the Harp Twins (I don't know which one !) but the instruments they used for Only Time are better instruments and being a duet gives a lot more sound scope.

Wow, I’m humbled by your comment! Thank you so much for your affirmation 🥰🙏🏼. Blessings!

@@TracieLin The problem with one of the Harp Twins is that they're making 'false noises' by allowing a vibrating string to make contact with the back of a fingernail when going for an adjascent string - well, I think that's the issue. Or similarly, they're not stopping the current vibration wsoft flesh before replucking the same string. All the strings you plucked, as far as I noticed, were very cleanly plucked. The twins play electronic smaller harps - which to me lack a lot of tonal quality. On 'Only Time) kzbin.info/www/bejne/hHSyd3mtnZyLmKs they play concert grand harps - and if you listen to that via a really good audio system, the sound is phenomenal - so the fact they advise listening via ear phones just demonstrates their lack of experience of good quality audio reproduction. They refuse to change - which is extremely annoying - as they're really good harpists and they play excellently together. See if you can borrow or try a concert grand harp to experience the rich sound they produce. I decided some years ago that my favourite 'instrument' was a plucked string. Back in junior school, one of the teachers used to play a double bass - often bowed but to me, plucked gave a better sound. It's strange but it's been the Harp Twins that have reintroduced me to the harp and reminded me that I liked the instrument in general. KZbin has similarly reminded me of my fondness for tigers too :)
@TracieLin3 жыл бұрын
Thank you for your information. Harp Twins are very talented and they have great arrangement skills and creativity. They definitely win out for their youth and beautiful looks. I used to play pedal harps myself but decided to sell it to concentrate on the lever harps. But recently, I got back to pedal harp playing and rediscovered my love for it. I agree about the richness and the warmth of the pedal harp sound. Some day I will upload a video on my new pedal harp 🥰.

@@TracieLin I've never seen a shop that sold harps ! I've been in a few filled with electronic organs - and pianos but I suspect harps are fairly difficult to get hold of. Do you have any local-ish orchestras with a harpist ? or any other harpy connections where you could try out different instruments ? I know with other things, sometimes a specific thing - like a car, just seems to 'fit' better - or with a harp, the strings aren't quite in the right place :) I note some of your videos are played on a double harp but have you ever played a triple harp ?
@TracieLin3 жыл бұрын
@@millomweb Harp shops are too far and few in between for sure. The nearest harp shop is a 4 hour drive for me. Unfortunately, many harpists don't have the luxury of trying out the harp before buying and just have to rely on recommendations and opinions of others. It took me a few years of trial and error to determine which harps really suit me. Currently I have 4 harps and I love them all! I have played chamber music before through the local community college course. But it was with a flutist and violinist, not other harpists. I live in a rural small town and I am not aware of any other harpists. I have never played triple harps before. I think doubles are as far as I'll go.
