Prices remain literally the same or slightly increase in developed countries compared to Ghana for the following reasons: 1. Abundance of cheaper substitutes. Big supermarkets and organised mini shops are everywhere offering same or slightly different products at reasonable prices. Most the products are also produced locally rather than being imported. 2. Taxation mechanisms: The more money you earn the more taxes you pay. Taxes and other deductions are paid based on tax brackets which discourage traders from overpricing their goods. There is no point in cheating consumers when you know that a huge chunk of the money gained will be collected by the government and redistributed freely to unemployed folks or low income earners on benefits. ☺️ 3. Government subsidies for local producers and importers. 4. Pricing regulations where the government sets specified rates/prices beyond which certain products cannot be sold.

The whole issue is that, Everywhere in the world has become hard in terms of cost of living, prices are doubling up each and every time. However, the only advantage we get here is that u are able to double up to do more jobs instead of one, which can’t happen in Ghana. This means that a lazy person cannot make it in abrokyire because u need more than one job to live a comfortable life. Doing more than one job is not an easy task especially during winter. So I think that is the more reason why abrokyire people complain a lot. Because there’s no resting time in abrokyire.

What is abroad or foreign land(abrokyire)? Any person who leaves their native country to another country is called abroad. A Ghanaian in Togo or Ivory Coast or Nigeria is a foreigner and is abroad. Many Ghanaians feel that abroad or abrokyire means travel to Europe countries, USA, Canada, South America etc. Travelling from Tamale to Accra one doesnt need passport because it's within the same country. Any place one travels with a passport is abroad. Dont focus your understanding of abroad to advanced countries only.

The reason why we don't consider our neighbouring African countries abroad is because in our minds the situation is the same across the continent. So Europe is Abroad and Africa is Ghana in that sense lol

I understand but the jealousy from people who don't even owe anything is just ridiculous! I had a hard life in Ghana b4 , I didn't have to blame my family members and friends abroad, but soon as I traveled, am disengaged from so many people and friends out of jealousy! Please learn to solve your personal problems instead of blaming other people ok.

i laugh when i hear people compare the cost of living abroad and that in Ghana, anyone who makes that comparison is just being silly and unrealistic. Even if you spend a £200 on your travel cost a month, you can work different jobs within that month, so you make up for the cost of your travel. How many people work two to three jobs in Ghana , no matter how difficult things are in Europe you will always get by and you will always have surplus to undertake a project in Ghana. In London Civil servants earn between £29000 - £45000 a year, do the maths.

You can not be importing things you can manufacture in your country and have gold, diamond, oil, cocoa etc and still be talking Russian, China or Russian, Ukraine or covid please. All we need is good leadership and good attitude from the citizens and Ghana 🇬🇭will be the best country ever to leave in. The reason they are all saying that is because the system is working aboard that's why it will not make you feel the economic hardship like people in Ghana are feeling. And it's not as if they hate or don't like Ghana ooo NO. Every Ghanaian outside is always praying and wishes things get better so they can go back home. They come to hassle in a good system in order to go back and leave a decent life back home. Even without docs in a good system is still better than Ghana. Everything he said is true except for the protests one he made mention. They protest for comfortablelity even without gold, diamond, oil, cocoa, shea butter, cashew etc they still think they deserve better. Oh GOD, for crying out loud Ghanaians deserve way better. GOD as blessed us so much that we don't deserve this hardship 😭😭😭

Dont generalized everybody travels outside Ghana gets job doing. Eating and a place to sleep is not easy for many people from Africa. Travel to most of Asia countries to see. I advice people never travel to Asia. No human rights law in Asia countries and no job available unless you have money to do business.

I'm an American. Born & raised. I came to your country in 2017-18. I'm coming back to your country again because things are NOT good in the U.S. either. The only reason the dollar is shooting up is because Russia and China have done a deal over oil, which is decreasing the dollar / pound. So the Federal Reserve is artificially inflating the Dollar / Pound to compete. Which is making ALL other exotic currencies suffer. It's not just Ghana. Now comman slap me. Abeg you.
