They didnt. Certain memeber states did. Nato as a whole did not participate. Each member is independent and has the ability to conduct military missions anywhere they deem necessary. There ARE defensive lines at the north and north east of Kharkiv. These lines are 12-20 km behind the border BECAUSE Russian troops shoot from behind the border and Ukraine can't hit them back. The buffer zone (12-20 km) is meant to let Russian troops come on Ukrainian soil so that Ukraine can hit them, which they can't if they are on Russian soil. This is basic information, I don't understand why these commentators (except the general Trinkan) dont get that.

France and Germany don't have capacity to produce enough artillery rounds to defend themselves from Russia but Macron is saying to Eastern Europeans not to buy from S Korea which produce more artillery rounds than NATO and Russia combined. German air force only has 5% combat ready with Eurofighters due to cost and short of supplies to use them. Same goes for their Leopard 2 tank parts which they have to wait years to get them while war will be end quick. Ukraine is already feeling that using Leopard 2 and M1 Abram tanks short with spare parts and too heavy to use them in muddy lands. Poland choosing K2 tank was good choice with adaptive suspensions to use in muddy or crossing rivers with special top attack munition with 8km range which no others have. K9 SP artillery and K239 MRLS also provide reliable accurate fire power without worry for spare parts. It's faster getting parts from S Korea than getting from France and Germany. Germany and France also didn't want Poland to join new tank program while telling them not to buy tanks from other country isn't right for Poland. This endangers Eastern European security waiting help from France and Germany enjoying their wines while Eastern Europeans will suffer under Putin.

Ukraine has every right to hit systems related to the attack inside Russia., that is common sense. But you are talking long range weapons systems supplied by NATO countries most likely programed and operated by NATO personel. Now Russia has the right hit these weapons and its support infrastructure and the problem is that these weapons are manufactured in England, France, Germany, US and I bet much of its operational infrastructure is in Poland, Rumania as well as other Eastern European states.

I believe they should have the right to use weapons to strike military sites. However, this also implies that it would be justifiable for Russia to target an airfield in Europe if it is being used to launch missions that strike targets within Russia. While I do not believe this is currently happening, it could become a reality if they start receiving planes from the West, particularly if Russia targets most Ukrainian airfields.

Ukraine is simply a testing ground for military weapons, military technology and military tactics. Russians are not Talibans or Sadam Hussein's military and they believe they are fighting for their culture and way of life from a cultural and religious perspective.
