Two brave young women made the ultimate sacrifice, which enabled doctors to learn more about these types of surgery so that one day another set of siblings in a similar predicament may be saved. They got their wish to be separated. And I'm sure even after death they do not regret their decision. Kudos also to the brave doctor willing to perform this surgery amidst possible backlash.

The government and people of of Singapore are to be commended for their generosity and humanity, and the medical team are above all truly magnificent human beings. They did everything following strict protocol and ethics, and as with any surgery, even minor procedures, there is the risk of serious complications and death. This medical team's work is to be applauded for the attention to detail they instigated before tackling surgery. There was no other choice for these girls to make, and they had to take the chance. Even if they had been born in a so-called developed country, surgery would have failed even if it had been attempted early in their lives. Theirs was a tragic medical condition that had no surgical solution. These girls taught humanity as a whole by their resilience and grace living with their situation, and that is the amazing legacy they left.

You don’t know that if they lived in a country in the U.S that the same outcome would have happened. Most opera😢toons on 4-5 year old twins are successful and theirs would also probably have been successful if it was done at an early age. I have seen young and completed conjoined Siamese twin cases like this and they normally come out alive. They only died most likely because it was done when they were 29 instead of 4 years old.

@@kaitlinschwarz3644 I agree that, if the surgery would’ve been done at an earlier age, it may have been successful. They pretty much said that in the video. However, Singapore is one of the leading medical pioneers in the world. In many ways, they are more advanced in procedures & equipment than the US. Some of our own doctors go there to learn these techniques & advancements. If you walked into their hospitals, you would be truly amazed at those advancements, as well as how they treat their patients there. They actually put care in Healthcare. It would be very arrogant to think that we are so much further ahead in the medical field than every place else in the world.

The mother is trying get out of there covering her face from the cameras. Just to fill their stupid little news holes. Then once they got their pictures they left. They got what they needed. My daughter was born the same year as the twins. They gave life a admirable "run". They were shining lights of young ladies. Blessings to their adoptive parent for providing a nurturing and positive environment for them to develop to the best of their abilities. I also am glaf that they had an opportunity to reconnect with their biological parents and family. I am sure that everyone wanted the best for them in this very difficult situation This video was an inspiration to human kind we were alll hoping for a better outcome. However, the father's statement summed it up beautifully. May they rest in peace.

If living with a sibling is hard, can you imagine the difficulty of being literally attached to them 24/7?! No way! So sad for them to have had a bad outcome, but they really did make the best decision for their situation and it sure looked like a lot of thought went into the process - by everyone involved.

**spoiler alert** I’m so very sorry that the surgery was not successful but please do not let this deter you in the future. These children deserve assistance at a very young age ... where the surgery would be more successful. You gave them hope when no one else would and they have no idea that their lives ended. They are in their after life, separate and happy.
@linanicolia19945 жыл бұрын
Not many people are born conjoined and while some can be separated without creating too much damage, some end up mutilated as they often share organs and limbs. The change is so radical, you really have to be conservative. If they desperately want to be separated, knowing they may die, you just have to try your best and go for it. They were old enough to make these decisions. It is harder to do it with little kids, on so many levels, physical and emotional, for all parties involved.
@McPoyleBros5 жыл бұрын
lina Nicolia see the thing with what you said is, doctors know when it is risky and life threatening and when it is a doable separation. But these women were Adamant on what they wanted, and as adults no one can force them not to go through with it. A doctor can choose not to perform it. But no one has to say no, when an adult wants what they want.

It's just as well that the last sister who died didn't survive. She was so emotionally attached and dependant upon her twin sister, that it would have been torment for her to be left alone without her forever. Actually, the operation was successful. They got their wish to be separated. It was the only real decision that could have been made. I admire their bravery to even consider separation after so many years being conjoined. Their courage and utter desperation to live independent lives, AT ANY COST, shown through this entire video...they made plans for their futures, they knew what they both wanted to achieve as far as education, careers, BUT THEIR MAIN GOAL WAS TO BE ABLE TO LOOK AT EACH OTHER FACE TO FACE...FINALLY. Not once did either of these beautiful women say "oh I can't wait to be separate because I want to be rich, married, famous etc..." I believe that the people these two precious women knew, encountered, studied with, danced with, spoke with, laughed with and cried with are living better lives now just for the simple reason they were fortunate enough to call them their friends. I will never forget these brave women. Thank you Ladan and Laleh Bijani !!!!
