It was so awesome to run into our favorite KZbinr yesterday! Haha Sorry if we interrupted your filming but we had to say hi:) Your videos have been extremely educational (and entertaining) to us and you do an amazing job of sharing the beauty of Japan with the world. Keep up the great content, John. Our family always looks forward to watching your adventures!

This video is the first one I am watching on the same day it was published. I still have many of your videos to watch - sorry for the delay. Japanese street food is so much missed by me. I am so happy that it is back - here the people are discussing about losing their freedom... Unbelieveable. I do hope that the regular life will be back soon here in CH. Thank you very much, John, for sharing your awesome documentary video with us.

Wow, staying busy, aren’t you! I thought you were going to take a week off to enjoy family time! Thanks for making these streams. I’ve seen all 3 of these festival videos and they are all amazing! I also love that one with a motorcycle riding in circles up a wall. I’ve never seen that before! Man, the US is so boring compare to Japan. We just seem so dormant when it comes to community activities. It’s just not in our culture, I guess, at least not where I live….

Greetings. I was there yesterday, expecting you were there too by chance. Too bad you didn't have the live from the shrine grounds this year. Wish people in the world could watch the flashily decorated rakes and the handclaps. We are still cautious about 6th wave but people were coming back to the streets. Hope tourists will be coming back soon, too.

Thanks John for the vid. I don't know how you do it. Some single servings of that street food would fill me for a day! Others not so much. But, I would have to pace myself. Sometimes when I watch you do these festivals I'm like man. He's gotta exercise self control or when he comes across something really good you gotta have room for it. Incidentally, the steak on a stick was prob a whole steak before it shrank. Its heavily marbled. I can't imagine then cooking it too long.

Went to a night market in Vancouver last month, took 15 minutes to get one Dorayaki...need to up their game! It is nice to see people out and about. Sadly, in my hometown the night market is3 nights a year and only 3 blocks long...only maybe 10 choices of food repeated a bunch of times. Can't wait to experience it in Japan some year...looking like 2024 now.

What's sad is all the foolishness of all the anti mask, anti vaccine nutters! THEY are the ONLY reason that people are STILL getting sick and dying from Covid! Instead of looking at it as a major public health threat, they all worry about their "rights" being trampled! What about everybody else rights to live from dying from a deadly disease? Ugh. Slowly, karma will get them back Maybe the world will return to normal by 2025... 🙄Sigh......

Japan has high vaccine rate AND mask use (99% i heard).. Plus it's outdoor event so the risk must be low.. I am jealous too

@@Og-Judy I feel like we should just open everything back up, and if the unvaccinated get sick get sick, they get sick I know it sounds horrible but maybe all the stubborn people would die out. @@Og-Judy that is a pretty ignorant statement. Some people can’t get vaccinated and also vaccinated people can still get covid…masks also are not proven to work…viruses are so small they go through cloth…but why argue with someone as ignorant as you

@@DineNastyLakers you call someone else ignorant when you don’t realise the science has explained over and over why masks reduce infection. I have a fish farm here in the states. Been trying to locate a reliable source for live glass eel to branch off my farm. But, the whole process is over involved. State permits and sources are momentarily out of reach. My hopes are to solve the eel life cycle. Over fishing of eel will drive them to be threatened and unavailable for unagi. As i understand it a Japanese fish farmer "claims" to have successfully hatched out eel larvae. If true, Japan might continue to enjoy eating unagi. Otherwise it will be a forlorn memory.

John, since I do not have a way to communicate with you, other than here, I will inform you of a story that was recently released, and it is a “ need to know”, for those planning a trip to New York, or have family and friends within or near the Gloucester township, Camden county, New York. An employee at that Starbucks went to work, exposing other employees, as well as the patrons, to Hepatitis A. The dates of exposure are listed as November 4,5,6,11,12, and 13th. I know you plan to visit New York, not sure where exactly hence the heads up, over the Holidays, and this may be under control by then, but I thought you and some of your followers may find this important. Please follow up on this, please check out the story, and be safe.
@onlyinjapanGO3 жыл бұрын
I actually do not have any plans to visit NYC. Just family this trip but I could spontaneously stay for a night to visit friends. I have no plans to treat it like any other trip. We have an unvaccinated baby so we want to limit risk and exposure which means it’s silly to go to the city at all. The flight, get off and get into a car driven by family. That’s it.

I dunno - but I'm not aware of many food poisoning deaths here. Japan is the only country in Asia where you can go ANYWHERE and get drinkable water from the tap. It might not be the best (or even good) hygiene practices, but I have yet to get sick. Let's see if they improve next year.
