The shame is a prequel trilogy about Dumbledore and Grindelwald could have been epic. I guess with that first film they were testing the waters of a prequel, but then they decided to make a whole series out of all these characters, and there just wasn't enough story and so they stretched it to death.

I remember that these movies were originally a trilogy, before Rowling said it was going to be 5 movies, and honestly, I think a trilogy would've been fine. Because the second and third films feel like stepping stones, like 2-hour episodes of a TV show, with a ton of filler, and if she was able to cut out the fluff, and condense the story better, I think it would've worked out better. Honestly, the only reason I was sort of rooting for the other movies is because I wanted to see Dumbledore v Grindelwald, especially considering how awesome the fight between Dumbledore and Voldemort was. But I guess we do have that fight, so I shouldn't be that bummed.

I actually like the politics used in the Star Wars Prequel Trilogy because the whole reason for that trilogy's existence was to explain the fall of Anakin and the rise of the Empire, which was achieved by the Emperor using his political influence. The Fantastic Beasts trilogy had no reason to go into politics at all, this was all just a big cashgrab. Say what you want about the Prequels, but they were written to actually complement the story of Star Wars with a specific vision and a purpose.

I couldn't tell you the plot of ANY of these movies even if my life depended on it, even though I've seen them all, multiple times in many cases. Hell, I couldn't even tell you why the hell Voldemort was after Harry Potter in the first place!

They played it safe and fired a really good actor for whimsical things based on totally made up and unfounded rumors. Really playing it safe like Disney did by getting rid of the main reason pirates worked so well. Idiots seems to tame a term. And you know if it was a chick with domestic abuse rumors they’d be like ‘well it isn’t proven and suddenly we are very convinced about the innocent until proven guilty thing since it’s a woman.’ All that firing people based on no evidence does is encourage other people to make false accusations because they know people might settle rather than go to court or they might pay you off since they don’t want to be fired. (Except for Gina Corrano or however her named is spelled, she committed the sin that will get even women fired which is to say things Disney doesn’t like no matter how true those things are. The whole love for women and minorities and other groups labeled disenfranchised, regardless of their specific background like if they were born into wealth and tremendous privilege, thing goes just as far as those people tow the line narrative wise. If you step outside of that and say what you aren’t allowed to say I don’t know if any race card or female license or disability card or gay card or anything else is gonna protect you from their wraith.)

Like the Star Wars sequels, these movies will never be Harry Potter canon to me. The LGBT hinting aside, it just seems so ridiculous, like how ancient which/wizard clothing styles came after modern British styles. I mean, you can love someone as family, this is not technically confirmation he is gay... And, of course, the books are better than the movies, as well.

I believe they confirmed Dumbledore was gay, way back when the Harry Potter movies were still being released. Plus he tells Grindlewald he was "in love" with him, so definitely not a family/brotherly love.

@@OnMyMindEntertainment It was never in the books or in movies, some people say it was just said off hand for the publicity. One can be in love with a person, but not in a true love way. No doubt there are viewers platanically in love with you, at least in how you portray yourself on screen. You can also be in love with what a person represents, as could be said in this case. Dumbledore could be said to have been in love with the ideals and personality Grindewold embodied in the past along with his charisma.

Ugh, this series... It keeps trying to force Newt into things just to justify the title but still juggle the clearly better prequel-concept of following Dumbledore and Grindelwald... I will say this: Mads Mikkelsen was better than Johnny Depp. Innocent or not in his personal shit, I'm glad it happened just so they threw Johnny out of this. His performance wasn't working and his design was a fucking cartoon.
