Very good debate! I also agree both men have brought up good points. The Broadcasting Commission has done a good job with the airwaves. Now the governing body needs to standardize the dancehall in the same way. Jamaica is a great country and the killing needs to stop.....

I support Ian 100%. Dancehall needs to clean up and make some positve and clean music that not only have local but international appeal.

very good interview and a wonderful discussion and I will comment on what they discuss in a elaborate way when I am able to digest and put some deep thinking behind the reason why the dancehall genre is being constantly targeted for being the main reason that contributes to the social ills in the Jamaican society when there are other musical genres and factors which has destroyed the social fabric of our country, but those things are never highlighted because of inequality and a high level of hypocrisy.

The song is good, the melody, and rhythm, except that part, he DID say "haffi get yuh body even by gunpoint." I cannot agree with that as a sensible, woman of sound mind. He is encouraging rape with those lyrics, he's my artiste but I don't like that. Maybe there is one, but I've never heard a soca song with the derogatory lyrics I hear in dancehall. I need someone to point one out to me.

Ian is more knowledgeable about dancehall than those so-called defenders of dancehall

If Ian Boyne is able to come on stage and clearly he's well armed, then the likes of a Mutabaruka should be able to be there better yet Sizzla should be able to go up one and one against a Mr Boyne. And Like it are not if there isn't a market for the lyrics they wouldn't be sold. Twin Of Twins should give Mr. Ian Boyne a good debate as well. pree dis Twin Of Twin On The Record Interview January 2014 @CoreyEvaCleanEnt

I HAVE BEEN LISTENING THESE CRITICS FOR YEAR AND HONESTLY THE IAN BOYD OF THE WORLD WILL NEVER GET. CRONIXX IS MAKING AN IMPACT RIGHT NOW ,WHY ,ITS SIMPLE (HIS SONGS ARE GOOD) ,THE SAME WAY ALKALINE IS ALSO MAKING AN IMPACT ,WHY SIMPLE (HIS SONGS ARE GOOD) . ITS NOT ABOUT CULTURE ,SLACKNESS OR GUN TUNE ITS ABOUT IF A SONG IS GOOD OR IT SUCKS,PERIOD.

In fact dancehall music is degenerate music, but I love it

Cant knock Ian Boyne argument…but The 60s 70s artists were not born during the time of dreadful political division…They would not be as entrenched in the violence as the kids who were born and raised in the cloud of violence. That said we need fi progress...

Are you an idiot? do this whole thing started in the 70's.

The bad man lyrics is played out Those songs don't reach anywhere and the artist found that out
@iyanmanmuzik13045 жыл бұрын
Both male and female dancehall artists make “bad” lyrics, but why Ian only concentrating on the male contributions to the “bad” lyrics? Female artists may not sing about violence and gun as much as the male artists, but the extreme X-rated lyrics are as bad. If lyrics about violence have some effect on the level of violence in Jamaica, then lyrics about sex will have the same effect on the young girls and young men. Let’s condemn all the dancehall “artists” who make music about sex and violence.

Buju chats `Haffi get your body even by gunfight` NOT `gunpoint`. He`s saying she`s worth fighting for, not trying to rape her.

MY QUESTION TO ANYONE WHO TRULY BELIEVE THAT THE MUSIC IS RESPONSIBLE FOR THE INFLUENCE IN SOCIETY ASK ME THIS QUESTION . WHY IS THE THAT REGGAE MUSIC OF THE 70'S (WHICH WAS MUCH BIGGER THAN DANCEHALL AT THE TIME) DIDN'T PREVENT THE POLITICAL VIOLENCE THEN?
