The Ibanez sounds good, but I'm not settling for a budget Dingwall Combustion, I want the REAL THING! Dingwall's craftsmanship, attention to detail, R&D, and Custom Shop QC are worth the extra money!!! NOTHING SOUNDS LIKE A DINGWALL EXCEPT A DINGWALL!!!

I have both. And the Ibanez is so far away from the Combustion, that you can't even imagine

@@ThymeforBouldering i think the biggest difference is the playabilty. Both play nice. But in my opinion the banjo Frets and the different neck shape of the Combustion has a uniqe feel. I Like it very much. But is it 1500€ more worth?Maybe. Soundwise, yeah as i said, it is a different beast for different needs. Go out play/buy both and decide wich suits you and your wallet best 😉

@@Onthefur as I've said, I have both. But for me the Combustion is far better. I didn't need time to adapt, it fitted like home in my hands, and is so easy to play. No wrist strain, no skin issues. I have one Yamaha that used to cut through my fingers like a knife...

Switch then over to an ESP JazzBass that i played till it was nearly totaly wrecked 😅Sold it… and so on and so on. Now i only need 1-2 Bass for Homestudio work. @ThymeforBouldering I also did have both. To each his own. Glad you are happy with the DW. For me, it's the BTB that gets the job done and is way more versatile and my sound is still heavy as AF but not sound like every DW and DG sound. Five of my bass player friends have turned to Ibanez BTB players and have sold their DW. Because, in their opinion, Ibanez BTB is more versatile and saves them more money.

legator has a really nice multiscale ninja bass , between the 37" and the fishman pickups and able to find them used for around 700 USD theyre really giving dingwall a run for their money. i was eyeballing one of these until i realized the legators are cheaper 2nd hand and have better pickups. do love that the btb has stainless frets tho.

8:07 I think you mean the nut? Maybe it has a different term where you are from. I have the Ibanez EHB 1506 headless multi scale bass, it has the same problem, my left index finger started bleeding from hitting the sharp corner. My solution was to get a fret wrap, originally to help quiet the strings for tapping and sweeps, but it goes over the nut and keeps it comfy.
@Onthefur3 ай бұрын
@@TwinSimian Little mistake 😅😉But you are totaly right. Here in Germany the „nut“ is called „Sattel“ = saddle 😉 Good suggestion to use a fret wrap. I use fret wraps too and Like them alot. But it adds extra costs and some player may dont like them. For a real permanent fix you have round it with a nail file…I think it is not a deal breaker but i expect a better QC in this price range.

I am not saying they are bad basses.. but they lack a soul... and for 2.5k I'd hope for them to have a really impeccable clean sound and customization... that I see Sire, Spector, Ibanez and many other brands provide. Thinking about getting one. Only concern: I want a bass that also sounds good without distortion and without plec. Most videos focus on djent style distortion - is this bass recommended also for finger picking / clean sound or is this a weak spot?
@grenzmord29 күн бұрын
I play mine mostly rather distorted, but cleaner than this example and always with my fingers. Fingerstyle works absolutely fine, clean sounds will work but this bass has a rather subdued midrange which is great for metal bass, but might be a bit tame for cleaner sounds.

How low can the action be set on one of these bad boys?
@OnthefurАй бұрын
@@albertmarkethinkpr1325 Aiiii! Good question. It always depends on what gauge of strings you play and how much fretbuzz you can tolerate. Well and how hard you hit. I, for example, hit very hard...since I can't change that quickly, I make a compromise with the height. I've had to do that with every bass so far. With my thick payson strings I would like to go a bit lower but then it just buzzes too much for me... The String height with the factory strings was really good and low. For the comparsion: I can set the Dingwall Combustion lower with the same set of strings BUT it is an unfair comparsion because it has much smaller banjo frets from factory. So there is much more space until fretbuzz will occure.
@albertmarkethinkpr1325Ай бұрын
@@Onthefur Thinking of getting one of these and stringing it up with a 40/120 . I never liked how thick gauge strings sound especailly on the low B, makes it too boomy for my taste. I enjoy a bit of clank. Can you get away with 1.70 mm on the G and maybe 2.00 on the low B? Sorry for a million questions. Cheers!
