So the onus (yes I had to Google how to spell it) is on you NOT to receive a fake coin or banknote. It seems like a massive game of pass the parcel where nobody wants to be in possession of the fake when the music stops. 😱How many small shops have put aside a dodgy looking coin or banknote to pass on to some little old granny or grandad because they can't take the loss. 😭

Onus maybe on the customer receiving the fake coin. But are you prepared to check £500 of £2 coins, before you leave the bank. Also the bank is guilty of passing fake £2 to customer. Banks have a duty of care and should have better detection for fake coins. Also if you keep fake coins, you reduce the amount in circulation. The Mint are supposed to change the coin, once a certain situation / percentage is reached.

Glue it back in the wrong way up and you got yourself a rotation error 😊

Enjoy these hunts, being from the US, I enjoy that the UK has lots of commems in circulation. Question, are the coins in the UK distributed from the mint in the same bags that banks use, or are they distributed differently?

I like your videos. Since I am American, I don't know what the different heads of the queen look like. Would it be possible to do a quick show of these different appearances of the queen? Thanks.

Is finding a rotation error a recent thing or was there pre-decimal coins that have rotation errors? What is the earliest rotation found? I'm not thinking Roman or similar, but say from Victoria onwards. xxJane 💰🌼

When doing an edge hunt, could you show the coins perpendicular to the camera (upright). It's almost impossible to read them at an angle. What value would you place on the broken coin?

I was born and brought up in the UK, but I emigrated to the USA in 2002 when the Royal Mint went a little crazy with Commemoratives, I have managed to build up a nice collection of UK coins, one reason I like UK coins is because they really don't make many of them compared to the USA commemoratives. I've given up asking Christopher ANY questions on here, because he is apparently way too snobby to bother answering any of them, which is a real shame. I also don't think he bothers with collecting NIFCs because of the very disparaging way he talks about them! Of course I can't be sure, because he doesn't ever respond!

Are you sitting down? It looks to me like those Midland bags date back to 1992-1996. Feel free to research it further, but I cannot see any reason why it would be past 1996

The banks can't have measures in place to detect fake coins then

All what they do is take bags and then put it on the scales, if it weighs the same then they accept it. You would be there all day checking coins for fakes. I will add though, it seems to be the post office more so than the banks.
