Thank you kindly... Who doesn't like a noodle now and again? The gadget is an E-Bow which is basically a device which turns a magnet on and off very quickly and when you hold it near (but not against) a string it gives you virtually infinite sustain. There are people who have made it part of their 'thing'. I think it will always be mainly a novelty for me. If you're interested you can check youtube videos because, though the e-bow is the first practical device of this kind, there have been a number of things like it released more recently including from TC Electronics and most of these are less expensive 😊

It is indeed. It's a sort of rhythmic pre-set wah that is fun to use but quite hard to find a use for. If you google pictures of it that will probably make it clearer than me trying to explain 😀 To be honest, I'm not sure I could accurately describe exactly how it works but I'm glad you enjoyed it. Hi Jenny. Yeah! the gadget is an EBow which can give you virtually infinite sustain one note at a time. I make it look more awkward than it needs to be because I don't use it that much 😊

OH YEAH! Is that called an "E-Bow"? I was, very seriously thinking about getting one of those for my fretted basses to add the spontaneous "fretless mwah" sound when I needed it! Do you like it, Paul?

Hi Dan! - It is indeed an Ebow and I like it very much, though I don't use it enough to be really skillful at it. There are guys who specialise with it who do amazing things. It may not do the fretless 'thing' in the way you want because you will always have the separation between notes caused by the frets themselves but because it loses pick attack and gives pretty much infinite sustain you might be able to conjure up interesting double bass/cello sounds. It could potentially open the door to creative areas where you couldn't go otherwise. You should definitely try one if you get the chance. At the very least I think you'd have fun 😊
