Thanks for your tutorials. They have been very helpful. I decided to see if I could simplify the pos_neg so I removed all of the if checking and put the three lines of code in a try ... except block with pass in the except. Worked like a charm and was much cleaner.

Should probably have used a loop for the digit buttons, quite some repetivite code there :) But I guess for a demo this is fine and less confusing for beginners :p

Thanks for the explanations. Always great. If you entered "-12+" and selected the "+/-" button, wouldn't you still get the error changing the sign? Could you do the check for signs starting from the second character (ignore the first) and thus the check would for "any sign in a place other than the 1st character"?

Sure, but we're nitpicking at this point. The thing works regardless, and the point of this isn't to build a sophisticated calculator. It's to mess around with OOP.

@@TkinterPython randyfriend was right! You wrote: "The thing works regardless". That's false: if you try to change, for example, the sign of -5 + 7 the error still appears. It always happens, when the equation starts with a minus sign, and contains at least one more operation sign.
