It's probably a bit late to do, but maybe with the Remastered Life is Strange and Life is Strange: Before the Storm coming out in February, not to mention the True Colors Nintendo Switch release this past 7 December, it could happen and be considered timely? What "it" is is this: I'd really love to see a "Luke, Jane, Aoife, and Johnny sit down and talk about Life is Strange: True Colors" video. I always enjoyed the chats you all had for the previous LiS games, and that was something I sorely missed with True Colors. There are things worth talking about, such as the ethics of using Alex's powers, whether or not you agree with the game about which decision were "right" in terms of whether or not they got certain townspeople to support Alex, etc. Just a thought, but I'd love to see such a discussion video. 🥺👉👈

Same here I'd absolutely love a discussion video, even if it wasn't considered timely. Mostly I just wanna know who they chose between Steph and Ryan, and then have anyone who chose Ryan have why they're wrong carefully explained 😂
@AlexSamaras2 жыл бұрын
@@ethanlappin You say that, but I gotta hand it to the writers and Eric Emery's performance. If I hadn't already been in love with Steph from Before the Storm, Ryan could very easily have been a viable interest for Alex, and that's no small thing since, thanks to my existing bias, I was prepared to write him off before I'd ever played the game. Ryan was simply an excellent character, and due to the way I'd played Alex throughout the whole game, was a significant influence on what I chose in the final decision. . Speaking of the final decision, there is definitely some discussion to be had about whether or not that decision feels weighty at all. I chose the way I did with the intent that it could very well not be a permanent life-long choice (and I think that argument can be made for either way one chooses). In a sense, to me, that made the choice feel less significant than previous Life is Strange final choices. . Speaking of that speaking of, the Wavelengths DLC left me gutted about my final choice from Life is Strange 1, in a way that nothing to date had managed to do. But, I'll stop rambling now. ;)
@ethanlappin2 жыл бұрын
@@AlexSamaras oh for sure, if Steph was a brand new character it definitely would've been more of a contest. The final decision was definitely less weighty than previous entries. I even made mine (stay in town with Steph) with the personal headcanon that it could easily just be for a few years to let Alex enjoy some stability, with the option to go and travel further down the line particularly if Steph got that itch again. Far detached from the life or death decisions or moral dilemmas of previous LIS games. I know what you mean, Wavelengths definitely made me feel a lot worse about bae/bay than I had previously though knowing myself I'd still probably make the exact same choice if/when I play it again
@NerdOManyThings2 жыл бұрын
I also dreadfully miss their discussion video. None of my friends have played either this one or the last one, so I find their discussions videos a good subsitute to being able to talk in detail about it with my friends. (Spoilers below, although if you don't want spoilers you probably shouldn't be this far in this comment thread) Also my thoughts on the ending are that it definitely is a LOT lower stakes than the previous ones, and doesn't hit nearly as hard, but I'm glad about it. I don't really think that it'd be good for all their games to have such a low stakes final chocie, but I was quite relieved to have a bit of a break from truly heart-wrenching endings. Like all LIS games, this is a game with really high emotional highs, and really crushing emotional lows, but I felt that True Colours, more than any other LIS game (apart from maybe the first, maybe) had the highest of highs, and for the most extended amount of time. As such it was just a lot of fun to play, and while I also enjoyed the tenser and darker moments in their own way, my personal main takeaway from this game was all the joy and connection with the other characters. So it felt very fitting to me that the ending was all about whether you wanted to make this place a home and these characters a family, or go off on further adventures with a romantic partner (I'm not sure if there is a plationic option for the ending, but I'm pretty sure there isn't? Feel free to correct me if you got a platonic ending).

Depending on which previous one you're talking about...I would play some others. The first couple may have some aging issues but Tools of Destruction and Crack in Time for PS3 were definitely the peak of the series. Into the Nexus was just...meh. And the 2016 reboot of the series was honestly awful compared to the original because it took literally all of the character and character growth out of the game...They just tried to pixar-ify everything. I'm glad they at least went back to the original universe with this most recent one, even if some of the attempted pixarification is still there. It looks great, it feels great, and it has a wonderfully weird atmosphere and style of storytelling. I'm so glad I gave it another chance after hitting a bit of a wall with one of the bosses a while back. For anyone having a hard time: turn on the always sprint option, it's a game changer. There's basically no reason to not always sprint, and if you start at normal speed first, it's gonna be tough to adjust to the always sprint mode, so best do it straight from the start. Also, don't be ashamed to turn up aim assist if you're having trouble - the game is still tough enough, because most of the challenge is from not getting hit, rather than nailing the 360 noscopes.

Something about Little Nightmares 2 that is really important is that you play as a newer character called Mono while the "buddy" Luke talked about is Six, the protagonist from the first game. Also, this is actually essentially a prequel to the first game. It's also part of a larger franchise with stuff like books with a lot of worldbuilding in it. Also, something to keep in mind from the first game and with this game is that if Six was an adult she would be labeled either a psycopath or a sociopath. Part of that is just the world that she's grown up in, but it's also just her own personal nature that makes her that way because other children like her grew up in that same type of world, yet they didn't end up like her.

Guys, guys. 3 things: 1. Returnal is incredible if you are able to complete it twice (tall order, I know) 2. I started playing Tomb Raider with the first game in 2000, I had TR3 on Playstation and later TR: Angel of Darkness on PS2, which I actually didn't hate...I know. In my opinion, while not as well made as TR 2013 or Rise; Shadow of the Tomb Raider was not half bad. The stealth was greatly improved, the challenge tombs were much more fun to complete, and the lite rpg stuff actually worked really well, not to mention how viable all-out murder was towards the end of the game. 3. Forza Horizon 5 reminds me of Burnout Paradise with less great music. And Burnout Paradise reminds me of Burnout Dominator with less refined mechanics and focus, and Burnout Dominator reminds me of Need for Speed III Hot Pursuit (1998)

Happy New Year! Returnal is one I'm vaguely interested in, but the rogue-like aspect of being shunted back to the very beginning sounds very frustrating to me, especially losing most of my stuff. I was glad to see that they updated it to allow players to save in the middle of a run. Ah, thanks for describing the physics like you did. I was trying to describe RDR2 to my dad, and how Arthur walks, and the reactions being a bit odd/delayed. It's how I ran down more than one NPC on my horse, lol. Good to know that Guardians of the Galaxy isn't one I'm sad I haven't played. I've found I dislike it when games make me manage a party. I tried Mass Effect and it didn't click with me. I'm glad people like it though. Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart is one I'm planning on getting at some point as well, but likely when it's on sale since there are some others I've been more excited about. I got the previous one for free during PlayStation's Play At Home deal earlier this year and I really liked it. I did end up sticking to just the same few weapons, but I played through it twice to get all the cards and such. It's a fun game, so the sequel appeals to me as being more of the same sort of fun. The new cars aspect does sound cool, but at the same time I think I'd be overwhelmed by them throwing so many at me like that. But I'm the sort who'll find a favorite weapon or something in a game and stick with it. I'll try out a new weapon I've found, but I usually have 2 or 3 favorites I stick with for the most part. I guess it shows how relaxed about gaming I am and how behind the times I am since most of the games I've been playing are from 2019 or earlier. Hitman 3 is the only 2021 game I've played. Elden Ring and Stray are the main 2 games I'm most looking forward to for 2022, and Elden Ring is the first pre-order I've done for a game in a very long time.

Yeah GOTG was one I gave a pass on because of the exact reason described in the video, I was worried it would just be another Avengers letdown. Hearing that it'd actually story based and, you know, fun to play I'll definitely add it to my '22 list

I enjoyed Life is Strange so much I played it in 2 days - it was a genuine surprise as I never got in to the other games, I must have enjoyed the vibe of this one more 😄

Loved Ratchet & Clank. Only game I platinumed this year. And yea, Guardians was a huge surprise for me. I haven’t been bothered with MCU stuff since the first Avengers, but it was on sale and I was hearing good things. Glad I got it.

That reminds me of this little nightmare I had. Earth was stuck in an eternal time loop that reset every Jan 1st. We were all aware of the loop and even celebrated it each year with a festival on December 31st called Returnal. Here’s the thing: all progress of humanity was lost on Jan 1st. Some smart folk eventually unlocked enough clues to determine that the key to figuring out this loop is to locate the delta rune. With a ratchet and clank, a company named Forza built a spaceship called the Horizon 4. Their plan was to send me sending me out into deep space to recover the delta rune - like I’m some kind of guardian of the galaxy or something. Idk, life is strange. PS: Ellen and Luke have such amazing chemistry.

Many were the adventures we had: We paid respect at some guy's funeral .. but what we really meant was "F this guy!" We were in Control, composed a new Anthem, we impeached President Evil, and made the Titan fall. We entered a tournament just to learn that it wasn't real. ...and in the end, we learned the most important lessons one could ever learn: Screens are blue, X-boxes are red. Whatever you do, that hardware is dead. You can't take the sky from me, because the sky is no man's property in the first place. Adam might have had the first Apple, but Eve is Online. If wishes were horses, little ponies would be nightmares. Friendship may be magic, Duke Nukem may be forever, but doom is eternal.

Carole King, Betty York, Janis Joplin. Names I feel sentimental about and almost noone remembers. Yes I am old but I prefer to think of myself as closer to "finished and I got the good ending".Thanks for continuing to make this ole' lady smile.

Playing Guardians of the Galaxy at the moment. It's great. Definitely a lot of Mass Effect and the combat is a bit of a stripped down version of Final Fantasy VII remake. Really stands on it's own, deeply entrenched on the comics, just enough distance from the movies.

I'm a big fan of the Forza Horizon series. It takes all the things that make cars cool and fun and puts it in one game. Racing? Check. Big map where you can drive anywhere? Check. Collectibles? Check. Updating weekly objectives? Check. And solid, fun driving mechanics? Check.

Possibly one of my favorite Outside Xtra videos... partly because it reinforces in me that Luke has such a neutral tone, and could lie to my face. Partly because Ellen is such a lovely Manic Pixie I want to believe. They could have said we reviewed "Deltarune part 1-2" in 2019, and i would take it as fact.

I'm the same when he gave monster hunter a honrable mention in the other video. Really wished we could see Luke play it a little bit instead of another dark souls vid. The game is good, we get it but it would have been nice to see something different. Hopefully he will keep playing with sunbreak this year!

I think also worth mentoring about Guardian's Of the Galaxy is the strength of the writing. The character dynamics and interplay is all there but the real strength I think of the experience is a story that goes to some surprisingly emotional places. The central theme being how we deal with loss and grief. It's some of the best writing I'm seen a big budget games for a long, long time

9:05 I feel this way about so many games. I feel it hard to go fast in many games because I'm not stopping to appreciate the detail put in. I know that's a self imposed limit, but still I feel like i should stop a lot in games and just look at the surroundings.

I just played Rift Apart for the first time a few days ago and I absolutely love it. I got into the series with the 2016 remake of the original, but did a lot of wiki reading in the interm, so I did pick up on some of the references. (Don't worry Luke, I also keeping calling it A Rift in Time. There's a game in the series called A Crack in Time and I keep getting the titles confused for some reason)

I love this episode specially because of the mentions of Jak and Daxter. It was one of my favorites as a kid, played the first game through to Jak X. Nobody I know seems to know it and I've never heard much mention of it elsewhere either. Thank you.

Clicked for the Ratchet & Clank thumbnail, figuring it would be one of the games I played on my PS2, didn't realize this was 2021 games, LOL! Or that this was double-length! Wouldn't have clicked had I noticed, but oh well (ONLY reason I haven't watched any Blades In The Dark videos, as much as I want to, never mind the ALL that I'd like, I was a Kickstarter backer!). There were 3 series I loved: R&C, Jak & Daxter and Sly Cooper. Then I had an opportunity to buy a XBox 360 and discovered those are ALL Playstation exclusives! :( I had heard XBox was more geared to adult gamers - in that their exclusives were (and, admittedly, both Ratchet and Sly are remarkedly kid-friendly, Jak a bit too). I have I THINK every Ratchet game for PS2, though 2 or 3 I bought late and haven't played. I miss them all!
