You are so brave to stick that phone in the water. I have the model before yours xcoverpro not the 6. Mine has never given me a problem for nearly 3 years until recently and now the screen has lines on it like yours. Hence why I watched your video as the when I saw the icon for your video shows your screen. I washed my screen recently and noticed some water got underneath in the screen in the corner. So now a week later it is showing these lines. I realised a long time back that this phone is not really waterproof for submersion as that rubber oring is all that is sealing it. I have got it wet with rain a lot and it handled that fine. Mine I have dropped many times and the glass never has broken and the battery and back usually pop off. I previously had an s7 and that one is all glass front and back and I broke the front glass and rear glass many times hence why I bought and xcoverpro which has been a fantastic rugged phone for me. Let us know what you did with this one.

For the more sensitive amongst your viewers, the next time you do this can you please press your thumb hard along every edge of the back, to confirm that the back is strongly and properly clipped into place? Since it's quite easy for just one of the back clips not to be properly in position, or for one clip to be poorly joined because of previous stress in handling. Also, when you come to take the back off after the test, please wrap the phone in a towel first, and also make sure your hands are totally dry before opening the phone. It probably doesn't make any difference to the test, but it will just make me feel better. Thankyou!!

the lines on your phone is from the water that got in via the headphone jack, hence the air bubbles, if it dries up it'll probably come back to life, as for the water in the battery compartment the guys at the warranty must've done something with the gasket on the battery cover, cos it seals perfectly if not tampered with regardless if you open it up 10 times a day, it's one of the reasons i bought this phone myself and for my mother, i got anger issues lol and she is clumsy, so these rugged phones make sense for us, overall i'm happy with it, bought it for the removable battery and the fact it can resist shocks so well, water too, but apparently the headphone gasket failed on both of our phones hence both mine and yours now have those white lines on the screen, i opened it up and put it upside down with a bit of clearance for the headphone jack without the cover and the battery to dry it up, will see how it works after that

Suggestion: Anyone who dunks this should go to a home oxygen medical company, and see if they have a used (or even new) sieve bed they can sell you. Disassemble and remove the molecular sieve material, pour in an airtight jar with screw on lid screwed tightly (keep it from absorbing humidity in the air). Assuming you have already removed the phone's battery when first got wet, wrap the cell loosely but completely with paper towels, immerse in the sieve granules over night with the lid sealed. Again assuming you immediately removed the battery, shook off the water and air dried immediately after getting wet, this is the by far BEST way to completely dry the phone inside and out. Molecular sieve reacts violently with water, and absorbs humidity like nothing else available. If a phone has any chance of working again after wet, thos is the way to go.

In addition to your findings, may I add that I too own an Xcover6 pro. Out of the 6 times it has been dropped between 2 and 4 feet, 5 of the times the back flew off and the battery came out. There is no battery capture device so on impact the battery knocks off the back cover.

How do you like him after another year? I want to take Xcover7 as a gift for someone who drops his phones all the time but I didn't find any video test with it, is there any sense to overpay so much for protection it really works or is it easier for me to buy a good case for another model?

it's like the classy old galaxy s5 phone, lego phone, once dropped, it's lego phone, the nice addition to this is that it can resist shocks and water, mine resisted water, and even dunked it in thermal spring water and carried it in pocket submerged and it had no issues, today, being hot, the phone felt like boiling, so ran some tap water on it avoiding the charger port so i don't have to wait for it to dry to cool it off, all good, but later on i noticed some ghost inputs on the right edge of the screen and on the bottom , fixed with turning off and on the screen, but then i noticed the exact same lines on the screen like this guy has, and taking into consideration what happened to his and mine, i believe the gasket at the 3.5mm jack fails and little water/moisture seeped inside the phone and reach the screen connector, odd enough, phone works fine, mine at least, and upon closer inspection i noticed condensed water on the inside of the camera lens, so i took the battery out and left it in front of a cooling fan to see if it dries up, his phone probably took some water from the jack as well that reached the connectors, the fact he got water in the battery compartment is probably the gasket is either cooked, or not assembled properly when he took it to warranty and should take back to samsung to fix the issue, that gasket has to hold water like sealed, i took mine apart many times and a single time did i have even a tiny condensed water drop inside the battery compartment, but it was never taken apart or had it fixed at a phone shop or warranty

Wouldn't an extra well fitted back cover help stop water getting in? I'm tempted to get one of these phones.

I don't agree with the notion because the back is removable that it's not water tight. I had a Samsung Galaxy active phone for a long time and its back cover could be removed and I would Duncan in water all the time just to show how waterproof it was. I never had any issues with water damage or leakage into the screen or the back cover so I think this has to do with them just cutting Corners that would actually make this phone truly waterproof

What makes the Xcover6 Pro's 3.5mm port different from other makers that it still needed a cover before water immersion? 😅 Galaxy S5 Active only has covers for the charging port, not the headphone jack.

I appreciate sharing your experience with the details of what happened and the resulting test of its original claims after the repairs. Even with these vulnerabilities, I still intend to get one of these in the near future, as my Samsung Galaxy XCover FieldPro is now on an OS version that is no longer going to be getting security updates (Android 10). I may resort to using a Ram Mounts case to perhaps assist in keeping the back cover from loosening and compromising its water resistance (what little it has, ahahaha).

You can see how a xcoverpro's screen is replaced here and how it is really hard to make it waterproof after the factory which would likely have some kind of testing in place. Hence once you replace a screen never test the waterproof capabilities or have faith in it. kzbin.info/www/bejne/iaPdfZWQp859nLc

SO -- since an S23 would've passed this test -- Samsung made a rugged phone which is actually LESS rugged than their non-rugged phones. Lying to your customers is never a good look, Sammy.
@ghanaboyz
@ghanaboyz Жыл бұрын
"Lying"? Fact, the producer of this video states "t's working even after a month", so what the problem? He also had it repaired before this video, right? This is known to decrease water resistence (same goes for other items being water resitent from the factory but later repaired. Added testing is therefor something pay extra for when doing a repair, else I can not be sure the item is still water resistent after the repair). As another commenter wrote above "The back cover isn't designed to be waterproof. Everything beneath the back cover is. Clean the water off the contacts and it'll work fine again." Did you notice: water resitence, not water proofing. I have had a few Samsung Xcover models before and read their fine print carefully. Can't say they lied, even if marketers tends to stretch the selling point. My experience was that they all were obviously more rugged than other models not marketed as "rugged". But water proofed? No, especially so those I had with only IP67. That said, I felt and still feel the standard itself is a bit tricky and potentially missleading. At best it is a tell tale on top of the fine print from the producer of the device.

Are you sure about that? Friend's Galaxy S7 still got water damaged despite ip68 rating. Ip ratings and MIL specs aren't meant to be abused. See the ip68 how they only used clean water, not chlorinated or sea water.😂

@@kanabanakamura864 IP rating standard is pretty crude to begin with. I always check the fine print and manuals (all public) regardless. They tend to include more realism. The ip rating is just an added tell tale, probably for compliance reasons.
