very much appreciating your demonstrations. excellent show of hove-to

@@myogart I’m actually planning on doing a hove-to specific video soon and talk more in-depth about it. It’s a technique I use all the time, but I meet many sailors that know the theory but have never actually done it.

I love this type of video talking out loud your thoughts for sharing insights and sailing strategies. You just earned another subscriber. I have a CL 14 and found having roller furling simplified the single handed experience and dealing with various wind conditions on a small sail boat. I probably would have just furled in my jib because on a small boat it would be trickier to heave to reef but you made it seem easy and the right call for your boat type. Keep these types of videos coming. 👏

Looks like another 12inches on the tiller would be handy for solo sailing, or perhaps a tiller clutch?

I’m gonna try a Ronstan Battlestick tiller extension this year. Hoping it will let me sit a bit more forward (for weight distribution and also easier handling of jib sheets) and let me lean out toward the rail more (to counter heel). But generally, after 4 seasons on the boat, I’ve been really happy with how the boat is set up for solo sailing. The addition last year of a backstay tensioner was a major upgrade.

Nice sail today! Do you keep the boat in the marina or launch and retrieve on most sails? What is your typical total time from start of launch to ready to trailer home ? Learning a lot from watching these quality videos. Thanks 🙏

Thank you for the kind words! I do trailer sail a few times each season, but I also have a slip at the marina so she spends most of June-Sept on the water. Set-up time is normally 90 min from arrival to launch.

Nice to see it done so well--sorry if I missed it: winds like 8-12 w/ gusts 15-20?
@ColoradoSailing Жыл бұрын
There’s no weather station at the lake, but the nearest one recorded sustained winds anywhere from 6-14 mph with the max gust at 25 mph. In two weeks, I’ll post the last vid in this series and will be sure to include the wind chart! 😁
