I’m no legal expert but I suspect that there are several reasons why that wouldn’t go anywhere. I don’t think the complainant has suffered any significant loss. The contest was free to enter so not getting a prize doesn’t hurt the participants. Second, is an 18 pack of mega rolls is about $30 online. So, 1 pack a month for a whole year is only $360. No sane person would hire a lawyer to try to resolve that and no lawyer would take that case pro bono. The only possible way it could work was a class action lawsuit where the lawyer would represent hundreds or thousands of clients. If Charming was smart they would put out a statement with an apology and explained how this happened, like they unintentionally sent out the sweepstakes winner announcement to everyone who entered the contest. Then they could find a way to honor the sweepstakes with 1 winner, or better yet….10 grand prize winners. They could easily just do a drawing for the grand prize winner and send everybody else the $2 coupon.

A couple of years ago a woman used a coupon that was about 40 years old. The coupon didn't have a expiration date so the company went ahead and fulfilled the order of a delicious breakfast deal. I believe it had pancakes,syrup, bacon, maybe sausage, and a few other goodies. Since the coupon was quite old there was a lot more food given than say what a person would get today. The company said that in the future they will make sure they put a expiration date on the coupon. Charmin needs to be a better company and pay the woman what she is due.

Years ago. when you still had to pay for your minutes used for cellphone calls. I got a pepsi out of a vending machine with a red star trimmed in gold with gold lettering sticker on it that said 'grand sweepstakes prize winner call (number) immediately" and they had been running tv commercials about a $150,000 grand sweepstake prize with said sticker at the time so I was thrilled. I called that number, and waited on hold. And waited on hold. And waited on hold. Calling multiple times to be on hold. I racked up $140 worth of extra on my phone bill because of how many minutes I was on hold. Finally, a person picked up and I gave them the code that was on the sticker when they told me to peel it off and look at the back. "Congratulations" The person said. After all this time and money spent on hold. "You won a pepsi tshirt and hat! where should we send it?" I feel bad still, for how much I tore into that poor phone person telling them what they could do with that hat and shirt. The commercial NEVER said anything about multiple prizes or multiple marked bottles or anything of the sort. They never did announce a winner of that $150k.
