A strange question. If somebody wanted to explore synths like this, do you have any recommendations on a place to start? Hardware or software? I like the idea of sooth through music. Thanks!

Why is the world a terrible place outside your bubble? I am asking to perhaps nudge you to do more content about mental health, life, and creativity. Greater discussions would be interesting. I definitely can identify with your battles. I would enjoy a discussion with you. For you and I, or perhaps you can post it.

As someone who deals with a depressive disorder as well, I can so much relate to that. Recently took some actions as well to get in a better shape, it’s crazy how good habits can change the way we feel, especially about ourselves. Lots of love for you 💜

2024 was rough. Everything you've said about how your life was before July, I can relate so much to that. I was at the lowest point of my life around the time the OP-XY came out. When the XY was released, I felt so detached from my love for music production that I just felt nothing. I didn't care, and that made me anxious and angry. When I jumped on the hate bandwagon (because it was easy and gave me at least something to feel), I realized that I had to change something. This video just gave me so much hope... I'm gonna start therapy soon, I'm gonna change my way of life. Thank you, I can't tell you enough on how motivational, inspiring and hope-giving this was. I'm very happy that you got out of the darkness, and I wish you a fantastic and (first and foremost) happy 2025.

Congrats, maybe the most honest video a saw on yt for quite a while. It touched me in so many ways suffering from depression for a long time and having a real bad impact in 2024 I still found my harmony to continue what I do with my music, media and art. And you are so right: it all about your personal values to follow!

Stai forte! Oora e sempre buona musica!

I appreciate the vulnerability. You are not afraid to show it on KZbin. I watched your OP-XY video when it came out. Despite the fact, that it will never be a piece of gear for me, I really saw how much you enjoyed using it. That was very inspiring for me, because for me music always starts as fun but often turns into a task. You just had fun. I am sorry about your challenges last year. We all deal with our own challenges. So even though I do not know you, I am happy that you are much better now. Your videos broaden my horizons, thank you for making them.

I love this video. I’m happy for you that you are finding more inner peace and joy in your life. I’m glad I listened to the end, because what I am struggling with most lately with my music is exactly what you said: my own validation and judgment if something is “worthwhile”. (I also smoke, not a pack a day, but I get down on myself about that too…but of course I don’t want to quit either because I’m a wimp..) but anyways…all that to say, thanks for making this and I’m sincerely happy for you and admire your honesty. And your music is inspiring as well. Happy 2025. 🎉

I spent years hating performing music live. I still do. I came to the realisation that I got into music, as a child, for myself. Nobody else. I’m now happier just doing music for myself. Knowing the end game isn’t performing live anymore takes the pressure off and makes it more fun for me now. Don’t get caught up in what you feel you should be doing and try and remember why you got into music in the first place. For fun. If you get enjoyment out of playing out - go for it. It’s not for everyone. The same goes for writing music. You don’t NEED to release music. You release it cause you want to. Take the pressure off yourself for a while and then see results. If you keep trying to force things, they’ll never work.

@ I spent years with performance anxiety/stage fright and didn’t understand it till I was older. I used to see so many people with mental health issues in the music industry. It’s crazy how we all got this far to be honest. Just be yourself dude. That’s all that’s important. Don’t worry about what anyone else thinks please. Just do it for yourself and you’ll always be happy. As soon. As you feel the need to do it for anyone other than yourself, I feel the magic is gone. I like your channel bloke. Your honesty is refreshing in this day and age. A LOT of what you said rings true dude. Been there done it, got the shirt. Youre not alone man. Christ, I just heard this evening than a guy we used to tour, had an existential crisis and sold every bit of music hardware he owned 🤦🏾♂️🤯 he’s been playing for over 30 years and decided making music wasn’t for him, touring and performing was. So it does happen to literally the best of us.

Content like this is massively helpful to people who are currently struggling in life one way or the other, be sure that the one or two things that you have said will permeate through the minds and hearts of people and will be put to good use, the biggest lesson of all is that we are all humans full of chemical reactions that causes all those ups and downs and our responsibility toward ourselves that those chemical reactions are balanced and healthy to keep the positivity, happiness and productiveness high, un abrazo amigo!

Thank you of talking about this, brother. So many people think that depression is just "being unhappy" but it's not -- it's a thought disorder that makes you see the World and your place in in it in a completely distorted way. As someone who has had their own struggles with mental health (I've lost my surgical career as well as my music playing abilities after suffering with a benign intracranial tumour - thank fuck for sequencers!), I can only applaud your honesty. Bravo to Candace too. Never underestimate the importance of a supportive, loving partner.

I fully understand the message you're conveying and the various states of mind you're describing. Artists truly are such fragile egocentrics! 😄 In the end, what works best is simply being yourself. People look at you, and all they want to see is a genuine human being with a spark of passion.

I'm very touched by this video as I went through something alike a year ago & I know a lot of musicians & creators are too. The tipping point was me ending up in this hospital, and after that, I naturally started to apply the same change of attitude. You've just done what I feel is missing in many KZbin channel creators videos: shared your personal journey, the ups and downs, what you feel you have learned, etc. Exploring these themes - in addition to making music, showing us your process, demos, live performances, - will, I hope and believe, find a deeper resonance with your audience,. It touches us, making us somehow feel connected to you, and to connect with ourselves more honestly with compassion and the motivation to move forward, feel better, create our own happiness, and just like you said: to create our own validation. Thank you so much, and keep being you and staying true to yourself. The rest will follow.

You're a great musician and a great artist. I've seen all your videos. The ones I prefer are the ones where you explain your artistic and technical approach, how you compose, how you use your equipment (for example your "use of delays", or "a new approach to eurorack"). Your way of translating a few notes into real music is motivating and encouraging. You know how to make what seems complex simple and musical. Keep on ! Thank you ! Happy new year !!

Well done on talking about this openly and good to see you coming out the other side. I think a lot of what you say is where a lot of us are in some shape or form so it is good to hear it expressed. Take care, look after yourself and those around you and keep making the music.

Great video! Finding and only placing any importance on our own validation is so important. Takes a lot of maturity and I still struggle with it every day. Another way I look at it is to never take anything personally. If something says something bad about your music, it's not personal. If someone says something good about your music, it's not personal. It's personal to them. The only thing personal is how we feel about our music.

As long as you get by comfortably you're fine money-wise too. Oh...and ehm...those Syntakt presets from 'They keep making it better'...are they for sale somewhere? ;-)
