Dry ice was used to fill the hive with CO2 witch suffocated the hornets then a sticky trap is demonstrated afterward to trap any returning to the hive

Little Oxhorn Did it suffocate them or was it meant to freeze them very quickly? I didn't know dry ice suffocated. But then again, What do I know anyway...Lol

I thought maybe it was liquid nitrogen

SFH SFH temporary freezing insects doesn't always kill them in fact they often wake up no worse for wear. Some scorpions can be frozen solid in ice and thawed out still alive.

These are Vespa mandarinia, the largest species of hornet. Their nests are usually in the ground, and they have very little envelope covering their combs. Each comb is made of brown paper, with the cells on one side opening downward, and each comb is somewhat concave from the viewpoint of the cell openings (i.e., on the underside). Although these insects destroy other species of wasps (including yellow jackets and other hornets as well as bees), they are an impressive part of the Asian fauna.

Very interesting method, thanks from France for the video. The hornet species is really beautiful.
i am translating for ENGLISH PEOPLE I stab the needle towards the adhesive sheet or bit it, but it is horrible if I consider this to be a living body

Wonder what type of glue these traps use? It must be something very strong. Industrial/super glue?

In the short summer we have here in Northern Japan, I came across my first ever killer hornet and I was terrified. Held me hostage in my own home as he stood guard at my front door smh
