I feel like the biggest synergy of the Eldritch Sovereign and Necromancy is that you basically get a steady and easy source of thralls, which you can put to all sorts of uses. A couple of thralls for 30 souls is a great trade once you have a steady soul income. If anything, the play would be to start with the Tome of Necromancy, but not actually use much necromancy, at least until at least the midgame, and even then use it to limit extent. Otherwise, might as well go Wizard King.

My first Eldritch Soverign in the DLC was a Necromancer build, though this is significantly better thought out. Although it makes me a little sad that Wightborn is so strong that getting Gloom Strider by allying with one of the new eldritch cities isn't really worth it

Gloomstrider definitely the better major transformation from a min max standpoint, 40 movement + flying alone makes it better IMO.

I fell into the trash trap. It started well, but I didn't leverage corrupt souls nor banshees, and I didn't leverage research thrall conversion at all! Thanks for the vid!

After playing with the new Necromancy, I feel like the Banshee and Corrupted Soul should switch tomes. Or they need to add more racial tier 3+ battle mages.

I know you only do custom faction builds but I wondered what your thoughts on the library factions are? I almost always use them as I like trying to make them work around their flaws. A couple of them seem pretty close to optimal Kruul Brightlord of the Fiendish Rodents seems like your kind of build. Overwhelm Tactics, Quick Reflexes, Adaptable, Horde tome, Barbarian, Prolific Swarmers, Ritual Cannibals. My favorite so far was Dafal Dea of the Crusading Croakers. He is by no means close to optimal but I like him for High Order/Nature playstyle on island maps.

I have not had the chance to test this yet but does the +1 level to magic origin units effect skeletons? I ask because the wizard tower 2 and apex now give bonus levels to magic origin units. There is also the astral binding empire development that gives another +2. So if they do all work on skeletons then you can whip up max level skeletons on the fly. It would also give you max level phantasm warriors and should turn your lesser storm spirits right into storm spirits. I wonder if the temp spirits summoned by the summoner also rank up? if they do that would be a serious power boost. The only problem I see with this build is juggling three different support units.

All those bonuses boost the skeletons, i just finished testing it last night with cosmic over drive. My skeleton armies were clearing out cities on Normal Difficulties

@@persepheliaeve8256 neat I found a good combo with gaia's chosen and fortress of vines I think it is. Gaia's chosen turns your people into plants and fortress of vines gives all plant units created or spawned by that city +1 level. In one of my cities my tier one units were coming out max rank and even my transmuters got a free level out of it. I wonder if anyone has done a proper comparison of how strong leveled up low tier units can be compared to higher tier units. It would be nice to know how much higher the little guys can punch above their weight class.

The bonuses you mentioned work with combat summons as well. I love seeing the bow's crow, golem assistants and wisps spawning at legend rank, while t2s at champion, finally followed by t3-5s at elite.

@@Tigereye085 so rushing out that mage tower could be a fantastic boon for factions that rely on combat summons. My current pet projects are a Lamia race that uses elf form with naga tf. Been trying primal serpent for that, but expanding as primal feels weird. The other is a DnD style army of magic using kobolds. Lizard form with spawn kin. I want to go mystic but im not sure what one. Either way thank you for the info.

​@user-ir4yk3jb5q Choose the summoner mystic subculture if you're going for a summon heavy build. As you said, combining Mana Channelers, Astral Binding (last astral tree upgrade) and Wizard Tower Apex is so satisfying. I almost feels like it breaks the game, especially if you have an Eldritch Sovereign ruler, which allows you to convert 30 souls into 3 thralls for your rituals.

Only the traits you pick matter, the form of the race has no gameplay influences.

I never managed to get rotting explosion to deal much dmg. Also most opponents i fight just ignore the decaying effect. How am i using it wrong or what could i do to make it work better?

I ran into that issue aswell when trying this out today, if i was going against other undead a lot of spells didnt do much and i had to lean into my mage units damage while shielding with my undead or spellshields.

I’m pretty sure eldritch influence one an eldritch influence two do not stack meaning You only get plus to imperium for the level two.

This guy don't care about anyone so much, can't even lvl up and show us finished build. Just "trust my word" build. And "I have no banshee here, but trust me". Quite a nice build, so much efforts in making video. But 37,7 thousands of cultists are pleased anyway. And of course no combat videos, just trusm my word and do as I said. More like text guide.
